I believe that is to eliminate join lines in the finish for the multi-piece bodies and the neck.

Makes sense... It was bubbling up when I was heat stripping. Kinda had me confused. Nothing an iron couldn't fix it afterwards

Mounted the pick up and made more room for the gotoh. it doesn't fit on black kv2.

Here's this black line I was talking about

I'm 95% sure it isn't paint/filler but ebony. Super fine powder, that ebony smell...

I dug an exacto about .5mm in and it was just more black.

The RGF doesn't look bad in that pic, but if you are having fun then keep at it.

Issues like the strip by the binding is kind of why I went for a trans finish on my RR1T. There isn't paint for them to hide mistakes behind.

It's not too bad I suppose, at least it's linear and somehwat blends in. The neck has a wicked grain and small flame! Can't wait to oil it.

I'll take a better pic when it's oiled up

Kinda looks like the board was thicker than the binding.

                      That's exactly what I thought.

I think it even looks fine, like a black binding for the cream binding...

I cant really imagine that being the case, as the fretboards are usually cut for binding before they get glued onto the neck. Strange...
Imagine, being able to be magically whisked away to... Delaware. Hi... Im in... Delaware...

That's my thought as well, but it's the only thing that could make sense in my brain without having it in front of me (and pulling the binding).

Is there a sure fire way to know? I suppose it would dissolve in paint thinner...

Paint thinner may soften/melt the binding. You can get a razor and separate the binding from the edge of the fretboard (at the corner of the 24th fret) if you're that curious. personally, I think it looks cool, although it doesn't seem to continue after the neck joins the body.

I really didn't want to post on your thread (I didn't want to offend you), as red ghost flames is my favourite Jackson finish and rare to boot. I can understand if it was dinged up and needed a refin, but you're killing me here If I were you, I would have sold the guitar (to me, at a low price ) but your guitar, your decision in the end.

Well anyway, I'm interested to see how this one turns out, probably really cool. Keep us updated with the pics.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.
