  • [NGD] Jackson Soloist SL2H Black/Trans Blue

    Hey guys,

I posted about getting these 2 guitars in seperate threads and now they're together at last!

    Black EMG 81/85 - Standard E/Drop D (Blocked trem)
Blue JB/59 - All other drop tunings

Excuse the smudge marks been playing both alot!

I tried the 18v EMG mod and I didn't like it, sounded too muddy to my ears.

I think I might also switch the pickups around or just replace the blue's bridge pickup for a more metal sounding passive pick-up.

Try a Duncan SH-5 Custom in the blue one. It sounds great in my trans blue RR1T.

Great pair of soloists! And I agree with Hellbat, try a Duncan Custom in there. It sounds great in several of my neck thrus.

            Thanks, they're really awesome.

I also have DK2 and the difference in quality is crazy. I don't think I will be playing the DK2 for much longer haha

I'll look into the Duncan Custom, any other recommendations?

              Love my SL2H!

I kept the stock JB/59 set but changed around the electronics. I used a 1M volume pot and 300k tone, seemed to give it some more low end crunch without bringing out the shrillness of the JB too much. Other people probably think I'm crazy for liking it that way, but it's an option.

1M volume works great in a Soloist, I have one too. For tone I got a 500k push/pull (for splitting). Haven't actually tried a JB in my SL2H yet - but TB-5 is the perfect pickup there.
