  • Single Humbucker Soloist?

I have really been wanting a single humbucker, reverse headstock Soloist. Since it appears that you cannot eliminate a pickup from the base model of a Jackson custom select, I will start searching the usual venues for a used one.
Did Jackson or Charvel every have a production model, neck-thru, single hum, Floyd Rose guitar? I am guessing not, since it would be such a limited market for the single hum. I could live without the reverse headstock. Was there anything in the import line?
No honey, I have always had this Jackson....

The Charvel Model 5a is a single humbucker soloist, dot inlay, and a normal headstock.

Thanks, I will have to look at the 5A. I am curious what inlays it has. I did see the 5FX but I believe it has a single at the neck and the one I saw had the locking nut behind the nut.

      Any others?

I've seen a few Custom Shops that way at the Music Zoo. One was just on ebay a couple of weeks ago, but very pricey.

No, there's never been a production single hum soloist. You just missed one on ebay for $1425, rev head and all.

I was watching that one too. Cool piece from 1988.

The 5A has dot inlays. The 5FX were actually 5A models that got sent back to the factory to have added slanted single coils in the neck and a toggle switch; some also got tone controls.

That's cool. Seller mislisted it..it's actually an '89. Can tell that with the half-route under the Floyd...plus the serial dates it to '89!

                          Nice catch. I didn't double-check since I wasn't bidding.

Here's a red 5a that's been listed on CL for a couple months. I've thought about grabbing this one but would really like someone local to check it out first.
