KV2Ts are awesome, congrats! I have one of the 25.5" scale ones. The size of the case is keeping me from bringing it to practice, though. That thing is huge! I've used Seymour Duncan Distortion and Custom in mine. The '59 didn't work so well for me either, too muddy with my amps. Curiously, I tried a TB4 in it, and it actually sounded quite well. Don't like that pickup in any of my alder guitars, though.

Loving my KV2T as well. It's the short-scale, which I can deal with a lot better than a 25.5" scale on a V. Oddly, I can't stand a Gibson V, and I've had 3 of them from different eras.

Thinking about Suhr Adridge pickups for this.

I use a 59 in the neck and a jb in the bridge of most my mahogany/maple guitars and like the tone but there have been a couple that have been a little muddy. For those I used lollar imperials and it seems to work out for me. Lately though I've put a couple lollar el rayos in the neck and I think I like that even better.

Congrats! As for tone, I really liked a custom SH-5 or custom custom SH-11 in the bridge and a '59 or Pearly Gates neck.

Whats the serial that will tell you if its a 25.5 inch scale or 24.75.

Only 2003's were regular scale 2004 and ups were changed to short scale. i still have 4 of the 25.5 inch scales. i ran across a flamed kv2t like this one about a year ago or so on ebay with serial U13720 and it was short scale.

But all in all. these are freaking awesome V's!!

agreed, the first 12 were black and 25.5, everything after that are violin size..

Ha. NEVAH! Its my last one!

BTW an ez way to tell the difference between the long and short scale is where the neck joins the body. See how the neck joins the body at the second inlay from the bottom? That's always gonna be the 25.5 scale. On the shorter one the neck joins at the first inlay.

Mine is 24.75. Joins at the last fret marker. Put EMG X series 81/85 combo in it and it sounds great.
