  • The last batch of Firebirds...

Anyone have some history on those? I think I own one:

but I'm not sure. What year were these ordered/delivered? How many were there? I assume that was the end of the Firebird ride...anyone have a recent word from Fender on that?

    Pics welcome!!

Exact count? Unknown. There are a few out there... probably somewhere between 20-50 of them, but nobody would really know except for someone who worked at the CS.

A few were made for artists. I think a few were made for NAMM. There were a few employee projects. A few that were made "hush hush" style, ordered directly from Jackson, possibly backdoored, maybe shipped to dealers or picked up directly. As far as I know they were CS only, but I don't know much about these.

      Cool rare guitar! Grats!

What he said. Damn nice guitar there. Too bad they don't make them anymore.

As I recall, the official 'last' Firebird was after the FMIC buy out, it was shown at NAMM and had a solid (colour) centre with flame wings. As I recall it was given to an artist (with no Jackson connection that I know of) and has basically never been seen since.

That is awesome! I believe someone on here stated that there was going to be a new Firebird going into production soon, just a slight change to it.

LOVE that body style. Didn't GMW get the last few bodies before FMIC said no more?

This is correct. Lee at GMW placed the last order for Firebirds.

It was an order of 16 Birds. I believe Lee kept 4 for himself and the rest were Custom Orders.

                  I have one of them.

That is sweet Curt!! For a minute there, I thought it was Robbin's redface with a refin. I like the TA H3 in there - great advice, by the way. They sound killer!

There were at least two done after that, that I am absolutely certain of. Sorry, can't name names.
