OK I'm feeling more comfortable with this whole thing. There's a guy in Nigeria who has made me an incredible offer for my whole collection!!

You should be fine to Nigeria - I've never heard of any problems shipping to, or rather, getting paid for stuff shipped there.

I've shipped to Turkey, Sweden, and Singapore. Only had a frustrating delay on the last one.

The market for guitars and gear is still soft, yes. But, as it has been stated; shipping internationally is a risk, a pain in the ass, and for most people, not worth it for a few extra bucks. It has nothing to do with where its going, just the problems associated with getting it there and the potential for trouble. Especially with Ebay now, they're very one-sided against sellers, and personally, I envision the worst outcomes for sure. I have shipped to Canada, and the paperwork sucks, but I did it because I felt secure in the postal services getting stuff there. However, I really haven't sold on Ebay in a while because of the already mentioned issues and the fees.

Thieves like Pebber who lie and steal guitars are reason #1.

Thanks guys this was very enlightening. I always questioned myself why in my country i couldn't find awesome Jacksons, or other guitars, in second hand, i once came up with a conspiracy theory where all the Americans wanted all the good stuff for themselves... I am really reading too many Mustaine related news... ( although i found a 1994 SL1 with a greenish blue marble rock finish)

That's been my experience...aka PAIN IN THE ASS. I'll ship overseas only after I'm sure no-one in the US wants it...

I'm just going to point out that it also works the other way too. I was looking for a Marshall JFX-1 last year and couldn't find one here in the USA. I did however find one on Ebay from the UK but the seller stated in his ad no shipping to the USA. So, I contacted a forum member here who lives in the UK who was willing to help me out. I sent him the money and he bought it then shipped it to me. I realize it happens more often that US sellers don't want to ship overseas, but sellers overseas must also have figured out what a PITA it is to ship here.

Its more expensive to ship from UK to USA, because we pay bullshit V.A.T on everything.
                      Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

British, Germans and other UE members ship for UE countries without problems or do they have the same shipping issues?

Generally OK in theory, but there is still a reluctance to do it.

I had some mad Dutch couple arrive at my house at 11:30pm at night who drove their old '70's Ford Transit MK2 Feuerwagon across from Holland to do a parts run up and down the UK. They were buying some old large and heavy Ford transit parts off me in another forum, I gave them a bed for the night as all the motels were closed and we got stuck into loading the axles etc the next morning. It's good that there are some dedicated nutters out there so you can get the parts and guitars you need and nothing beats collection in person. I love the Dutch though, they are completely bonkers. Cool van too.

But as for postage, it's a bit of a gamble just due to the number of handlers involved as said. I've never had any problems with small items from Germany and Greece, nor with items shipped internationally from the States. In fact despite what my family say about USPS being crap and all this and that, I find stuff sent from the USA gets here alot faster than stuff from Germany or anyway else in the EU.

You do cop the Vat and customs handling charges from outside the EU though...bigtime.

Hey I looked up the custom import charges and duty in the USA for importing from the UK and they are like $3 or something....the UK takes the piss.
You can't really be jealous of something you can't fathom.

I prefer USPS, they handle packages well, and are usually the cheapest. The flip side is their tracking sucks(by comparison), and now they wont handle larger packages like guitars.
