If the body and neck are from the same work order I would say no. Nice guitar either way
    It's pronounced soops

After the nut string lock was original equipment on a lot of those.

Any guitar where the neck and body are not the ones put on at the factory, or where the neck is not a warranty-repair/factory authorized replacement, is a mutt. Hardware is inconsequential. I would say the non-original neckplate could also be a factor, but since those have their own collector market, I'd be inclined to exclude it.

Basically as long as the neck came from the factory attached to the body, it's not a mutt. If anything it came with from the factory was changed besides the strings, it will never be considered "all original".

The neck and the neck plate belong together on my mutt in question, so they do match. The guitar used to have a rosewood fretboard w/dots and it just didn't look right with the black/white scheme so I bought a san dimas strat and swapped them. It was an expensive swap but was worth it in the end. I never planned on getting rid of the of the guitar that was used to make the swap but I needed to add to get the RR1 that then I used to trade for a Broderick.
I like black and white guitars

Mutts are pretty tied up in the history of Jackson/Charvel, so it's not that big a deal like it would be on some other guitars, like vintage Strats and whatnot.

            Personally, I love a well-constructed Jackson mutt.
