Yea, I meant which one. I live near one and I wondered if I should be kicking myself for not going into it more often. Or at all.

Just a shot in the dark but I'd say the body is alder or poplar and the neck is maple.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I am not 100% certain but I think all of Dave's were 24 fret.

Well, his white H/S/S KV only had 22 frets, as well as the Student Rhoads. http://www.jacksonguitarpalace.com/davemustaine/ Click on First Jacksons.

I didn't see the white one???? I guess I'll have to go look again! I know the student Rhoads was 22 fret but I thought we were talking about his King V's.

Good eye Toejam! That white one is pretty killer and also 22 fret!

Nice one. FWIW, I have a black KV2 which I bought new from Sam Ash in Paramus NJ in Nov. 1989. 22 frets with the same headstock decal, Jackson oversized p-ups and a JT6. Now it sports EMGs and an black OFR (off an '84 Kramer). It is also not double RR sized. I recall that is was definitely a newer design at the time, but not something that was a first as I believe I had seen others prior to buying it (though not too many I admit).

Thanks for everyones input. Unfortunately my timing is off on it anyway. My Volvo's alternator just took a nose dive and it ain't cheap so I'm gonna cut this one loose. I will post if here in the classified section for a few days for sale before returning it back to Guitar Center. If there is some history yet to be found out about this one than I would rather another JCF member have it than someone off the street. I will list it for exactly what I have in and can get on my return. If interested contact me.

                      Again thanks for everyone's input!

That TOM bridge actually looks much later than a 1990. The old Jackson TOM bridges were thinner and had a retaining wire. My '94 Dinky HX still has the old bridge, but I'm not sure when they started with the newer bridges.

Yes you are correct. I changed the original out for a new TonePros locking version. I have since put the original back on.

Nice guitar. As for the "prototype" thing, it very well could be a prototype of something. Finding out, with FMIC in charge, will prove to be the difficulty. You could always ask Kevin Easton if you can find him, he might know something about it... or not. lol
