  • Can you help me determine the cost of this Jackson guitar?

I bought this in 1998 from a Music academy. I've had it tuned up at GCenter and they all tell me I have a great guitar. Made in USA, "back when Jackson's were actually great guitars"....worth a pretty good penny.

it looks exactly like this one:

pictures will be coming soon to this thread.

I can tell you the serial number at the bottom of the neck is UO 44 04.

I'll be honest, I want to sell it. I rarely play anymore and I'm desperate for money. I've been holding off because I feel that it'll be worth more with time. It's in perfect condition.

pictures to come as soon as i take them!

    thanks for the help!

All you have to do is look in ebay completed auctions. One sold for $1399 with free shipping.

That said, I've been watching ebay. The same exact guitar purchased by a flipper for $930 was sold for $1400.

Two fire crackle M6's - one sold for $1K, the other for $400 + change.

My advice to you is to sell it with a buy it now. Or you can sell it starting at the minimum you want to take and see if it goes any higher. But from what I'm seeing, buyers don't want to get into a bidding war, and some rich guys just like to hit the BIN and be done with it (instant gratification).

So there you go. My .02.

The serial would be U0 not UO. Also, please read the rules and don't try to spam the forum. You need to be a Platinum Member to sell anything here, so click the Go Platinum link at the top of the forum to purchase a one-year membership.

thanks for all the replies. I wasn't trying to sell anything here...i'm trying to determine what kind of Jackson it is first and foremost. sorry...i'll get some pictures and come back with a thread not mentioning anything about buying or selling.

        thanks for your time.

Does that mean he should change his username?

Geez. Tough crowd. All I wanted was more information about a Jackson guitar, I thought this would be the place.

What's so amazing? I just wanted to know about my guitar. I mentioned selling it, but this is not a for sale thread. Jesus

At no point in your initial post did you ask for information about the guitar, you stated a bunch of used car sales pitch terms like "it was a great player built when Jackson's were men's guitars!" and then say you're selling it and are desperate for money. How is it not a for sale thread?

I've never tried to sell a guitar here or anywhere else. I just don't ever sell anything. LOL But i have two Charvels and les pauls that I want to get rid of because I am hurting for cash but they're great players and I am letting them go pretty cheap. Also if you could tell me some stuff about what I am not selling It would be appreciated. Thanks for the help!!!!!
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I get it, I guess I do come off as a used car salesman. Totally not the intention though. I apologize if I came across that way. This is a great board you have here and I actually came across it through a google search. I searched "what kind of jackson guitar is this" and i got this thread.

so I logged on. I should have been clearer in my approach. forever misunderstood i am. lol

I'll just let this thread die down and make a proper one with no "sales pitch". again i apologize about ruining the 'vibes'. take care.

Its an SL1... probably max out at around $1200 depending on the condition and finish. Theres a lot of them out there and they aren't super desireable. And dont worry, theres nothing wrong with asking what your guitar is and what its worth... this is the only forum I've ever been on where asking about stuff you wanna sell is a big problem. Nobody gave a shit before they started charging us to sell here, but now all of a sudden its a cardinal sin. You guys wonder why this place is getting quiet, its because every n00b gets treated like a criminal. Maybe try and lighten up, unless killing this place is what ya'll are going for...

A lot of bored and spiteful people here... I admit I'm one of them but threads like this don't really bother me.

RobRR pretty much summed it up for you. A SL1 in a popular color with minimal wear will get $1000-$1200 or so. Maybe a bit more if you have the original hard case, hang tag and tidbits.

The reason you have to pay to sell stuff here is because the community didn't want hit and run posters, people who only created accounts to find out what a guitar is worth so they could try to sell it and abandon their accounts. The admin wanted people who would participate and add to the community, not someone just stopping by every time they wanted to buy/sell/flip guitars. That's why long-standing members tend to be sarcastic and cynical. While I agree with the reasoning and its validity, I don't have a personal issue against it.

Not what I would call a desirable finish but a nice guitar $ 1000 maybe higher if you find the person that has to have it.
EDS finishes vary a lot some are OK but most are just blah looking.

Yeah, we did give a shit before the charging to sell came into effect. There used to also be a 100 post rule for newbies, but then lots of people would just try to run up their post count so they could sell here. Also, there were some times when some fly-by-night people would just show up to sell their gear and sometimes rip people off. Some admins would get threatened and told we needed to do something about it by the people who got ripped off, but how is that our problem? Buyer beware.
If you're established here in the community and get to know someone, there's less of a chance of getting ripped off, especially if you're a Platinum member, so that's why Jeremy put that in place. It's Jeremy's forum, and he runs it how he sees fit. I've also never made a dime off of this forum.
