What is the significance of this "select" business?

It's just what Jackson calls their high end USA series guitars that aren't built by the custom shop.This is what I think of Gibson since 1993.

It's a marketing speak way of saying 'this is a production model' without actually spelling out that it's not a Custom.Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
