  • i don't know if this has been said already, but that tremolo cavity looks like it was routed for a JT480(?) Jackson-Licenced tremolo unit, and not a Floyd Rose Original tremolo unit.

    they aren't direct replacements.

the OFR that i dropped into my DKMG looked exactly like this. i had to re-drill the pivot posts about 3mm rearward.

No I didn't. You know, the friday before I got in touch with the head of the music shop and he stated they both (them and Jackson) were aware the guitar was not ok and if still interested they'd push for a new rebuild in a reasonable amount of time... 2 business days later he contacted me with the messagge I posted already. In front of this double change in the time of a weekend, I decided it was enough and then quitted the order. The dealer I went through this is TMZ. I am certanly not happy about how the attendant tried to make me believe the guitar was fine, (looks the manager didn't know about), but in the end I am satisfied because he offered me plenty of options to sort this out... I went for a full refound (got in less than 2 days). Thanks again for your help.

      • That's really crazy to hear. The people at TMZ are always really good to deal with in my experiences.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

        • Yeah, I've had good dealings with TMZ as well. But the perception of a company is only as good as that of their weakest employee. Perhaps the person who Mike was dealing with initially is legally blind.

Edit: btw, that last sentence was a joke.

You know, when I started the thread the goal was to find help (which I found a lot) trying not to focus you good guys on posting heavy comments on jackosn or TMZ rather to solve the situation. I am sure this guitar was just a mistake (like the 23 fretter one) and I don't believe Jackson quality is going really bad. Unfortunately I believe customer support is an important factor and here they had a total failure, that's why I am not going to deal with them anymore (but who knows, maybe someday...). About the dealer, I was sure there were thousands of happy customer out there, and probably there's a reason why they tried to push the guitar anyway (no misscommunication anyway I have all the e-mails that prove this), but from a customer point of view this is not of my concern, I felt like they tried to discharge on me saving Jackson and themselves. I don't encurage anybody in leaving Jackson nor to have business with TMZ, but unless they will have something special I really like in the future, there are no reasons for me to deal with them about standard models I can buy/look for here in italy. The only suggestion I can give you is to keep your eyes open while ordering/buying/dealing with anybody, cause these are just business, no friendship or BS like this.

I'll be thinking for quite a while before I buy from TMZ again or the Jackson Custom Shop.

                • I thought there was some issue with US Jackson dealers selling overseas? Maybe that played into getting things handled properly?

                    +1
That's an excellent point Jack. I thought they weren't allowed to do that either now that you bring it up.

                    • Either way, the whole "its hand made" thing used to be used to represent a HIGHER quality, attention to detail and price pont over a machine. Now it seems like they're using it as an excuse for the first two and a justification for the latter, and that's really, really sad.
