That's a sad position for them to take. You can see in the pictures the high e string is much closer to the edge of the fingerboard than the low e. That does affect the playability IMO.

The worst part is if that's the company's position it shows that ownership/management doesn't care.

That's great news you get a full refund - now get someone else to build that dream guitar for you!

Really - that kind of response would be absolutely unbelievable if I hadn't received a totally screwed up (new) SL2H myself some five years ago. That one had a trem route way too wide with the bridge sitting on one end, and the pickups not even close to being aligned under the strings. The routes were about a half an inch off. The retailer had a similar black canvas providing the background, heh.. They did make it right by me and sent me a new one - a very good one, too - but the process took a better part of three months and the cost of shipping the turd back messed up the budget. Haven't considered buying a Jackson sight unseen since.

I should think a CS piece would bother me at least three times more If building by hand means mistakes are expected, then why should people pay more for the pleasure? Obviously, since the Selects are CNC'd to a degree, having the computer route the body is not a sure way either

CNC's don't make mistakes ever bro! If a CNC makes a mistake it's always human error. I am glad you got all of your money back Mike73 but I am very sorry for your troubles and hassle's. That statement by the company just sucks.

Wow thats just wrong for Jackson to say that . Here you go bro ,this is where I turned to and havent looked back. Have 3 of these and they are extremely high quality in construction amd playability. Cost less then custom jacksons and wait time is 4 months. I got 3 moderns in 12 months where it would take 6 years from jackson. http://www.suhr.com/suhr-modern-guitars/

Was this "statement" directly from Jackson to you, or to the dealer from Jackson, and the dealer passed it along? I want to know what guitarist at Jackson says a high E string is just fine when it slips off the board unless you have flawless fretting technique. Last I saw, there was only one Yngwie Malmsteen.

That's not an acceptable reply. AT ALL. Very disappointing. If that is truly their official stance, then they might as well close the custom shop because they no longer care about their craft or products. They are quite simply a JOKE.

Glad to hear you got your money back!

Thanks for sharing this mate. And well done for getting all of your money back.

Potential CS customers will defnitely think twice about ordering one after this sad episode.

That's not a bad thing. I hate that they will drill holes into a guitar that costs thousands of dollars just to hold a 50 cent piece of plastic.

Since it's a bolt-on, what you can do - though you admittedly shouldn't have to - is sand some off the bass edge of the neck heel and reset the neck (fill and redrill also) so that it pulls the high E into the board more.

I'd really love to hear from a Jackson rep or the dealer directly. The response is horrifying.

They are saying that if you won't accept crooked routes for $4000 they don't want to to business with you. THEY FIRED THE CUSTOMER for an unfixable error on a $4000 piece of wood.

Let that sink in.... THEY FIRED THE CUSTOMER. For asking for straight and proper routes.

Mistakes happen and it's silly to stop using a company because of a few errors, but the customer service response is 100% within there control.

Between the response and the 23 fret Kelly that they wouldn't let the other guy jump in line to avoid the 2 year clock.... Wow, fuck em. I got 7 higher end Jacksons. I guess that's enough.

To be clear, I include ALL new Jacksons. If they treat the highest end customers this way it's a poor sign.

Things go in cycles and they'll either right the ship or disapear. I will come back when shit comes back around.

Again I'd love to hear Jackson's side of the story.

I'm floored. The company's response is unconscionable IMO. Tantamount to saying, "that's all we feel like doing." That is NOT how you grow or preserve a brand! Can't help but wonder what FMIC corporate muckity-mucks had a hand in deciding that course of action. Was it cost to profit ratio? Was it a timing issue (won't go back right away and do over correctly or we'll REALLY fall behind)? I don't know the craftsman in the CS shop but I'd like to hope they would not have opted to have their names and reps tarnished in this manner! The fact that it got out of the shop at all is fucked up but to have the CS, in essence, say, "we aren't gonna fix it, here's your cash back." is beyond damaging to the credibility and rep of the CS! Fucking wow.

Glad you got your money back Mike. I'm now very nervous about my CS order.
