I read that on sevenstring.org and went 'Oh shit!'
Things like these baffle me.
You're not alone brother! I can not for the life of me understand how this got out of the factory.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.
The sad thing is that there is NO WAY this was overlooked throughout the entire build process. They HAD to see it at several points and just decide to "let it go". Which tells me they simply don't care. Which is sad. I"m disappointed in the entire chain of inspection/QC.
The only guy that gets a "pass" on this debacle is the painter. By the time he gets it the fretboard is taped up and he can't see it. Everyone else......well, there in lies the problem.
A reminder of why Suhr or Ernie Ball will get my money on new gear these days.
Suhr makes great guitars. My buddy has a Reb Beach model and it's awesome. I was quoted about four grand for the custom shop Rhoads I want. I also am looking at GJ2 and he wants about the same price for a 5 star Concorde so I might take my money and buy from Grover Jackson instead. After all it was Grover and Randy who came up with the design.

I really don't know what to say. It's a good thing Grover isn't there anymore. He'd be furious about things like this. I could see him taking these guitars directly to the saw.
This probably wouldn't have happened if Grover was still there. This is unacceptable. You wait 2+ years and pay over $4,000 to get a guitar that wasn't built exactly to your specs. If I owned a company and fucked up this bad, I would give the guy a full refund, let him keep the guitar and fire the person who inspected it and the person who built it.

I have to agree because there really is no acceptable excuse for how and or why this happened. It's just a gross oversight and like Chad said it really looks like a whole bunch of people didn't care and just kept there mouths shut and passed it on down the line. Shameful at best. Not only that Maiden89 how many pairs of hands do you think that guitar went through before it went out the door. That's why I say there's no way it should have made it out of the factory.

Why blame the dealer? They had nothing to do with the build. And, when they received the guitar, seems like they did the right thing: notified the buyer, and waited for their choice on how to handle it.
Yeah that scares me a lot. It is as if FMIC doesn't want CS orders. It is sad really. I am getting ready to place an order may not be with Jackson.
They DON'T want custom orders because custom orders are a pain in the butt hench the insane upcharge.
I won't both with the custom shop because of the prices and the wait time. I can get 99% of what I want from a custom guitar with a stock model, a new paint job, new pickups and maybe a neck swap. After that I'd rather deal with a small custom shop like Mike Learn because it's a 3-4 month wait, not 2+ years.

I didn't realize that communication transpired between the dealer and the customer. At least that wasn't clear to me from reading this and the other thread on the 7-string forum. It sounded like he got it, then made the decision. But maybe he was contacted when it arrived at the dealer, before shipment to the customer. Don't know. Anyway, I edited my previous comment since it was speculative.
All I know is that guy should absolutely refuse the build. If people accept that kind of stuff, it's not going to encourage anything to change.
I wonder if 23 frets and crooked pickups/bridge/tremolo will become options on the Custom Select order form? Or if you have to go full Custom Shop to get that level of customization.
