If it intonates and plays fine I would keep it just for the reason its different I don't play that high up on the neck anyway.

It seems to me that someone grabbed the wrong neck blank and slapped the wrong wings on it. At a glance, the guitar would have looked fine all the way down the line. Until they started cutting fret slots.Hail yesterday

why not? They've made 24 3/4" Soloists, KingVs have been both, as have Warriors. Why not a Kelly?

Can't speak to all 24 3/4" Jacksons, but all Fusions were 24 frets. The short scale Warriors were too, with a funky little angled fretboard extension. Very coolHail yesterday

Well every 24 fret guitar I own is 25.5 inch scale and like I said I've never seen a Kelly that was 24.75 scale. I wasn't speaking for imports as I have no desire to own one. I don't know anything about your USA Fusions or the imports because Jackson doesn't even offer that model on their website any longer. As far as I can see there are only two USA models left that even offer the 24.75 scale. One is the KV2T and the other is the 22 fret Mark Morton. That's my fault for not clarifying better. I thought since this thread was about USA's and Custom shops that's all we we're talking about. But i'll stand by my statement....I've never seen a 24.75 scale Kelly. @VitaminG weren't those Warriors your speaking of imports? The only 24 fret short 24.75 scale USA I see is the KV2T. I am not saying you're wrong either VitaminG but I have never seen a 24.75 Soloist, Warrior or KingV around this shit hole I live. But then again it's hard to find anyone out here with any nice Jackson's.Last edited by leftykingv2; 10-15-2013, 08:34 PM.This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I don't remember if they ever made a production 24 3/4" soloist, but I have seen some customs built to that scale.

But I was responding to your comment that a "24.75 fret board wouldn't even fit 24 or even 23 frets" Where it was built doesn't come into it.
Maybe my comment would have carried more weight if I was playing my US Fusion instead an import model fwiw, my US Fusion also has 24 frets.
As Ward has pointed out, there have been a number of US production models with 24 frets & 24 3/4" scale. c-man25 may be right that the production archtop also was. And of course there have been shortscale CS builds. IIRC JCFer slayer had a sweet shortscale mahogany Soloist builtHail yesterday

Personally, I don't think the missing fret would bother me, other than on principle. There's a KV2 out there with 23 frets as well.
But absolutely, whoever is checking things over there needs a talking to. Or, perhaps they need to actually employ someone to QC things before they leave, rather than just filling in the tag in Arizona LOLLast edited by neilli; 10-15-2013, 09:41 PM.Popular is not the same as good
