i could be wrong but i thought 22 fret Kelly's were mostly the king kelly size? so they started making a 22 fretter, realized it should have 24, didn't have the room and said F'it 23 it is.....

Well, actually, one 22 fretter is a Floyd, the other 2 are Kahler (one trem and one not) and the 24 fret is a Floyd. I was just pointing out how the 23 fretter body falls at the same place as the 22 fret and not the 24. Not sure if that info would be of any help with this discussion or not, it just adds more confusion to my little brain.

hmm, well, to be simple, with all things equal, if the saddles of different trems are at the same place, the neck will connect to the body at the same fret
that 23 fretter is 25.5, so is your 22 fretter, so they should connect at the same fret
the 24 fretter would be odd, perhaps the floyd is more towards the center of the body?

I think everyone here is just over thinking this whole post. In my personal opinion they just fucked up and there really isn't a good reason for it. It just looks like somebody said earlier in the post, by the time anyone noticed they all just said screw it and let it slide and shipped it.

I stand corrected about it having originally begun as a 24.75" neck--I just measured my Fusion against one of my Soloists, and it's true that 23 frets at 25.5" scale would not fit on the Fusion's fretboard.

So, how the hell did this happen? It's not just an issue of grabbing the wrong fretboard from the pile, because the neck underneath it would have to be cut to the same size to accommodate the fretboard, and none of Jackson's regular templates should fit this. Both the neck blank AND the fretboard had to be specially cut to fit 23 frets. Did someone just read the spec sheet wrong when the build started? That still wouldn't excuse lack of QC down the line. Very weird.

Most people order a KE1T-style because of Marty. Without the 24th fret, you're unable to play about 90% of his Megadeth solos, unless you've got seriously serious meathooks and can bend the 23rd fret Eb up to F# for Sweating Bullets. Maybe they figured "meh, 7-string, he can put on a high B instead of a low B and still get all the notes". Or they said "fuck, why can't these people understand we don't do artist-similar guitars!! How about we short him a fret - fucker." At least it was the last one and not the first one.....or was it?

This probably wouldn't have happened if Grover was still there. This is unacceptable. You wait 2+ years and pay over $4,000 to get a guitar that wasn't built exactly to your specs. If I owned a company and fucked up this bad, I would give the guy a full refund, let him keep the guitar and fire the person who inspected it and the person who built it.

I would take the guitar back and nail it to the wall with a sign that read "QA is everyone's responsibility" and "This cost us $xx to fix - it came out of your pay" so they'd see it every day. A beautiful guitar ruined by a simple yet retarded mistake. You're paid to do a job. If it's not done correctly, you haven't done your job.

Ah. Didn't notice the actual string count. I assumed it was a 7 since it was on the site. And are those pickup poles rusty or is it just reflection?

No rust it just has a plastic covering on the pick up that's why it looks that way.

Yeah, just the plastic. I don't know why they even bother with that stupid plastic on them. That crap was on the Mustaine Live Wires on my Dean V, and it was a pain in the ass to get off.

Now it's crooked side fret markers. I admit I've never scrutinized mine but these do seem like they were just thrown on there. Could be the angle and the flash but everything is suspect.

edit to add- just one more guy who should (did) catch the missing fret... No double dot at 24.
