Same here, Lefty. I'm not ordering anything! Cancelled the whole plan. Better keep my money in my pocket.

I really don't know what to say. It's a good thing Grover isn't there anymore. He'd be furious about things like this. I could see him taking these guitars directly to the saw.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

        Jackson the new Gibson
I love Jacksons but these lateset threads are not cool and the wait time is unacceptable.
I couldnt wait that long for a guitar. Just ridiculous. Its gotta be heartbreaking to finally get your guitar and its not up to par.

I wouldn't even say up to par because that's a suggestive thing. These instruments are flawed plain and simple bro and you're so right about it being heartbreaking. I can't imagine spending that kind of money and waiting that long only to receive a flawed guitar. I'd be pissed. These are the types of things that can drive a man to a killing spree.

I don't get how the new owner is reluctant to return it because of the wait time

this would be my note attached to the return shipment:
"I didn't wait 2 years and pay $4k for you guys to screw it up
Since It doesn't take 2 years to route a body, glue a neck and wait for paint to dry, you have 3 months
to get me a new guitar made by your craftsmen instead of high school trainees"
"There's nothing taking away from the pure masculinity I possess"

              "....crap!"

Couldn't they just take the fretboard off and glue a new one on? Also where did they put the serial number??

Actually i am also confused about how they make 23 frets guitars. Are the frets slots cut by CNC machine? I think only "handmade" guitar can result in such mistakes.

From what I've been told Custom Shop guitars and USA Selects are fretted by hand. If you're using a fret press on ebony you have to be very careful. Ebony is very hard but it will split if it's hit the wrong way. I also agree that there's no way a machine makes that 23 fret mistake.

I have seen many manufactures that use a single scale length use a dedicated machine for cutting the fret slots. The machine consists of "ganged" slotting or jeweler saws utilizing spacers between the saws to produce the scale length. Unless a CNC is equipped with a saw and motor on its motion arm, it is economically deterrent both in time and money. A 0.023" endmill cutter on the end of a spindle is slow and apt to break. I would think that all of Jackson's fretboard are slotted at a 25.5 inch scale with 24 frets. If the guitar is 22 frets, they would cut the last two frets off and add binding. But....This was a 24 fret guitar. Someone F$cked big time and and everyone down the line made like an ostrich and put their heads deep into the sand and hoped every successive person would let it pass by. Pretty bad AND seems to be happening too often.

Yeah that scares me a lot. It is as if FMIC doesn't want CS orders. It is sad really. I am getting ready to place an order may not be with Jackson.

probably, fb overhang wouldn't be too extreme, but I would imagine taking off a fb would be an extreme PITA
and prone to damaging the rest of the guitar

AFAIK all fb's are pre-slotted with a machine
I think someone wasn't paying attention and either the fb used was too short (24.75 24 frets?) or the end broke off

Yeah they'd have to re-do the binding afterwards as well and I am sure it would be a pain in the ass. I was just doing some research and I found a few pics of the Jackson Custom shop and low and behold I saw the fret slotting machine you're speaking of. It cuts all the fret slots at one time so it was probably a short scale board they used by accident. Here's a link to the site I found that shows the machine and a lot more! http://www.jacksoncharvelworld.net/tour.html

So... I wonder what scale the guitar would be in now???
I like black and white guitars

it would be 25 1/2" scale. But if it used a fretboard for a 24 3/4" guitar, it wouldn't be long enough to fit the 24th fret on
                                Hail yesterday
