You are looking for this case:

They are $130. They are made by SKB.

The smaller guitar shaped case is actually tougher than the larger coffee table shaped old one. The TSA latches on the new SKB are much less prone to failure and much more secure. Also, the handle is more rugged on the new SKB case, the old cases have an issue with the handles failing.

The Jackson KV2 body is symetrical, so left or right handed guitars will fit in this case. It also accepts reverse headstocks, so you're good to put your lefty KV2 in it.

My experience is just the opposite - the latches pop open easier and catch on nearby objects. And the new handles are utter shit. I had one break on me for a case that was only a couple of months old!

Although the shell is better, the old metal latches and handle mounts were much better IMHO. Overall, the new SKB is not an improvement

No. We are talking about the same case. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Laufcm posted a pic of it. Is this the one you have because it's the one I am interested in.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Okay what's your opinion about it's durability?

If its SKB, I feel like it should be quality. Never had an issue with em' either for guitar case or rack case.

Interesting about the latches catching on things and opening up. I can see that happening but I haven't had an issue with that yet. The metal parts on my old case handle are worn and bent, the rivit is not holding the handle in place. I actually had the handle come off and I dropped my case (the old big case). I guess we're still waiting for a case that is worthy of holding a $3600 guitar! lol. Maybe Pelican will make one.

The modern "super" gig bags, like the Reunion Blues Continental, are the best cases a person can buy in my opinion. Along with excellent protection, they are lighter, and the exterior is easier on vehicle interiors and so forth. I wish they'd make one for big guitars like Explorers and Vees. I wonder if their acoustic or semi-hollow versions might come close to fitting?

Don't gig bags make you nervous though? I need a case I can stand on and not worry about the neck snapping

A fall is a nerve racking situation, but I'd actually be LESS worried with a super gig bag vs a hardshell case. The headstock is supported better in those than most hard cases. When tired, I've tossed my Continental gig bag around rather nonchalantly. I wouldn't do that with a hard case. On the RB website, they have videos of them dropping cases from the top of a building, throwing them over the top of a building, etc.

I've not owned an iGig bag (yet), but in this vid they run over one with a car:

Here's the Axewielder Six Step Plan for dealing with that large case:

                            1) Man up.
                            2) Sell some of those "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe" action figures.
                            3) Clear out some room for the case (step 2 paid off, didn't it?)
                            4) Wipe off the lipstick (in case you didn't follow Step 1 to a tee).
                            5) Do some curls to beef up those triceps.
                            6) Put down your purse.
