  • What's this worth?

So, my local guitar deal (which is an awesome place to be) has this guitar for sale eversince I first walked in there about 10 years ago. I don't like the guitar, but it allways catches my eye when I see it. It seems a bit overpriced though.

What's the story on this +4600 dollar guitar? Because I don't know anything about it. http://www.keesdee.nl/producten/jackson/4248/ltd-88/

I recall reading about it somewhere, not sure if I read it here, or maybe on EBay. From what I remember, this guitar was suppose to be a 12-string series, that for whatever reason didn't take off. That's why is has the cut-out on the base of the body. As of why it ended up being a 6 string strat body instead of 12's is beyond my knowledge. All the LTD 88s are blue and have reversed HS.

Also, why this particular model sells for that kind of money is also beyond me, since it doesn't have anything particulary important, apart from the cut-out.

I'm sure more info from the forum will come up.

Yeah, it was a 12 string experiment gone wrong. Not worth all that much. Maybe 800 US TOPS.

They're actually really nice guitars IMO, but yeah, there's a ton of them around and that price is plain crazy.

Price is definitely out of line for sure. I wouldn't go a penny over $900 USA if it's in dead mint and has a hardshell. Otherwise $800 is tops like Dog Boy said.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

It's a dutch shop, they love killing their sales with huge markups, then complain about a bad market

if they go down, you'll be damned sure it'll only be a few €100 instead of a a more sane €2000

I would put this in the inquiry

"Nice price, is that to cover the cost of the drugs you've been using when coming up with a value?"

This being the Netherlands, I'd go €1000 tops if I really wanted it

^^^ I'd say the appraisals above are about right. I think the body shape is pretty interesting, it's almost identical to my Strat 24's:

They are like a regular 22 fret strat, but with the bottom horn pulled down for upper fret access. Mine have a cutaway on the bottom horn that is different from the LTD88, and obviously mine don't have the 12 string cutout.

Yeah that's what I thought. Never seen a guitar this overpriced ;-) I wouldn't even buy it for $800.

But now I know the reason it's been there since forever.

A friend of mine bought one back in 88. Nice guitar, I don't remember what he paid back then, but the neck was pretty amazing.

I'd be willing to bet it was a lot less than the $4600.00 the guy in the Netherlands wants for his.
