Sweet! Yeah EMG's are awesome. They're the only pickups I use aside from Duncans. You should grab one of these and make them twice as awesome. Trust me it's worth it and a monkey could do the work. http://www.ebay.com/itm/EMG-18-VOLT-...item1e84c27518

Missed this thread when it was first started, awesome guitar.
Did you try the EMG X's?
I have been GASing for a DK-1 in either that finish or the Skullyard or I really like the Acapulco Gold too, but I'd have to go Custom because I want reverse headstock and reverse sharkys. CMC Guitars has an awesome Custom DK-1 for sell with reversed HS and Sharks.
I too went to school in Pittsburgh, went to Pitt from 96-2000. Ate plenty of O Fries, but I'd usually opt for a burger with cheese, bacon and an egg. And Atwood had awesome food, Antoon's Pizza, Atwood Street Deli, Mad Mex. Hell may have even crossed paths with you Lefty if you were still on Atwood then. Remember going to Hollowood Music in McKees Rocks, Pianos N' Stuff in Blawnox, Pittsburgh Guitars on the South Side...good times...Last edited by Steel City Psycho; 01-15-2014, 02:13 AM.I DESPISE ROSEWOOD WITH A PASSION!!!

I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I have EMG's in my SG.. an 85 and an H.. These are early 90's models and they sound pretty good..but still prefer my passive in my jackson..
I was thinking about modding the wiring for the EMGs a bit and make a battery case that can attach on a belt/strap..Have the idea.. some parts located that I will need.. Just havent bought yet.. and a basic wiring diagram drawn.. a slightly different take on an 18 volt mod...It has series and parallel switch .. series =18.. parallel=9volts but with increased battery life.. I tested it in a simulator and it works .. To make it external.. i might have to have some kind of buffer circuit im thinkin..
I have ideas but rarely complete them.. either I have money and not motivated or im motivated but no money..
ideas.. ideas..damn you... ideasGEAR:

BTW- I saw that CS DK-1 at CMC. It was too late for em to think about grabbing that because the bengal DK-1 was already purchased along with another Hamer Cali.Last edited by vector; 01-16-2014, 08:23 PM.

as for the battery life.. I realize its long by it self.. Was bored one night and spend a few ours doing research and sketches with/pen and paper.. Then I input the idea in a sim.. and got it to work.. besides.. I dont want a the batteries to be in a footswitch.. It would be better on a strap IMO
Not that I use it much but I do have an A.A.S in electrical tech.. So sometimes I do things just because I can.. or im bored.. perhaps I smoked too much and like messing with a hot soldering iron.. LMAO... This was the case last weekend..
This is just one of many projects in my head.. Some are good ideas.. others are mehGEAR:

It used to have everything and now he barely has shit and Johnny be goods is now on the first floor sharing a space with Don Hollowood. Pgh Guitars is still in southside and doing well. A friend of mine actually bought the store and is now running it full time. Pianos and stuff is still a great place to get gear. They still have a great selection and decent prices. EDIT; For the record I think EMG-HZ and EMG-X suck ass. I prefer regular old EMG's. Why fix what isn't broken?
THERE'S A POPEYES THERE NOW???!!!
Well, I was the 6 foot tall kid with the Manic Panic dyed red hair in a PanterA or Slayer t-shirt and camo pants usually bleeding all over Atwood, in my college days alcohol always led to fights/self induced head wounds, not quite sure how I survived it all I lived on Ward right across the Boulevard.I haven't been to Oaktown since 2011, took my friend up that way to check out the Cathedral before seeing Rob Zombie and Slayer at Stage AE. It has changed A LOT, everything I remember is gone on Forbes Ave. The X, Sam Goody, The Bee Hive, Dave's Music Mine, Laga...damn near every one was a campus bookstore!!!I haven't been to any of those guitar stores since I left except for Pittsburgh Guitars when I'm on the South Side. I'll actually be out that way in March, going to see Dropkick Murphys at Stage AE, was planning a little tour of Oaktown and maybe eating at MadMex

Can't wait to hear what the X's sound like.BTW- I saw that CS DK-1 at CMC. Yeah, that Custom DK-1 is nice and was almost perfect until I saw this one...which IS PERFECT!!! Speed neck, Reversed HS and Sharkys, Blackouts, I personally am fond of the graphic...only thing I would change would be maybe the graphic in orange, that would look sweet and give a Halloween vibe and the price... if only it wasn't $4K!!!
