  • DK1 Score!

Goddammit! I love me some 80's-inspired graphics! Snagged this beauty off Ebay tonight. Aside from some finish issue under the head stock logo ( a common affliction- had a Bengal RR1 with a similar condition) this baby is clean and mean. Gonna try dropping some EMG-X's in and see if I like them better than the factory 81/85 in there.

Awesome score and super sweet paint bro!! That thing is tits!!! HNGD! EDIT; Does the back of the neck and body have the same paint scheme?
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Lefty- no, the neck is the oiled maple, common on DK1's. And I'm more than okay with that. One of the major selling points of the DK1's is the oiled neck. The only finish I like as much is the satin finish on my custom shop Charvel Star.

Oh yeah my bad! I was thinking it was a soloist. I knew the Dinky's had the oiled maple neck back. I LOVE that Star!

Well... I have seen two DK-1's in the past that had matching finished necks. Very rare and may have well been custom shops guitars but they weren't labeled on the headstock as such. One was in a solid black finish and the other one had a greyish snakeskin finish like a python. Needless to say it was turning off point for me but they did sell to someone. So... your question was not as off the wall as one might think, even though 99% of DK-1's I have seen do have oiled necks.

Were they bolt on necks? I have never seen a USA DK-1 with a painted neck.
