Thinking of picking this up. Does anybody recognize this finish? Is there a custom list of the RR serials like the list for the J serial numbers around?
That is a refin done by a former Washburn employee....& the pickguard was changed then too!!
& no....no public log exists for the RR serial #s....& FMIC isn't talking unfortunately!!
Fender isn't talking because they probably have no idea.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.
They have the logs....but other than a very few instances FMIC will not release serial # info nowadays!!
I wonder why?

Makes it easier to put out fakes if they have to. They can do all the relic shit, so they'd just need to go back through the logs and build something from the past, age it, then have one of their agents list it on Ebay as an original 80s piece.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.

Except, in most cases, original SD guitars are selling for way less than what a new custom shop sells for. A good reason why so many guys only buy SD era guitars. So J/C would actually lose money if they ever did this.
Which they don't. So +1 to it being a bizarre statement to begin with.
I think Newc was suggesting that forgers would match specs on a fake and put a matching serial on it so that if someone called Fender they would "validate" the authenticity. Fake up some vanilla, black RR's and then put a serial from the logs that matches.
You could make a dozen to make it worth your while. Maybe far fetched but hey crooks are pretty dedicated to being crooks.
