NGD: Custom Select SL1...!

Well, almost NGD I guess, but it finally got to Matt's today. It's taken a while for this one (about 6 months). Custom Select SL1 in Surf Pearl with a rosewood fretboard and dot inlay.

It's an EVH Wolfgang. As stupid as it sounds, I only chose it because it's the most expensive pickup on the list and it wasn't an upcharge. I plan on replacing it soon with a Motor City Pickups Afwayu. Neck pickup is a Hot Rail, middle is a Cool Rail.

I think a black logo would look best, but I only would go with black if I could get black binding, which was a no go. I thought Ivoroid binding and a black logo might look odd.

The Afwayu is definitely my favorite pickup. I have one in my other two SL1's.

That's the reason I like it. Pretty much everyone would go the way you just described. It's always cool in my opinion when people do something out of the "norm." I think it makes your guitar sweet and more unique.

That's also another big part of the appeal in my opinion. Not what you see everyday. Different is sweet in my opinion. And yeah you are right most people want there "Sharky's" for inlays on Jackson guitars. I say to hell with the purists. It's your axe do what you want and who cares if some don't like it or approve.

Exactly. Why do I want a half dozen Soloists that are all basically the same but a different color? One of my Custom Selects is a DK1 with a rosewood board. The other is an SL1, ebony with Sharkfins. I prefer to mix it up a bit so they all have different vibes and fill different moods.
