Does that mean Masterbuilt options aren't a part of the Custom Select program then; because under the Masterbuilt options there is a 7 string option.

I think that form basically details Custom Select options, and then the Masterbuilt section is full custom shop. So from that, 7 strings, archtops, kahlers etc are full Custom Shop guitars with all that that entails.

It seems unnecessarily confusing - I'm just not sure why they didn't do a Custom Select form with a note saying anything not on the list would be CS, and then have a regular CS form.

Custom Select guitars are built by a cell or team of craftsmen, based on the menu of options I posted above. Masterbuilt guitars are built, primarily, by Mike Shannon. If your options go off the custom select menu and into the MB section of the order from, Mike Shannon takes over (at least for that option) and you add the $1700 fee and go from there. I think that info was added so that folks who want to know if they can get a short scale, 7 strings, Kahler, etc. can see that they are looking at MB options. Kind of a guide post so that folks who are trying to keep within custom select budget (money or time) can see where the lines are. Just a guess, really.

I know this form will be revised as time goes on, based on feedback from dealers and customers. I'm not shy about giving them my 2 cents, and I know they read this forum, too.

One thing I noticed that changed is they're charging for pick ups now. Before all the Duncan's were free on the Master Build sheet.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

Yeah, that surprised me too. Seems weird the standard pickups for each base model aren't included. Previously, it was only EMGs (on the list) that incurred an extra charge..

I'm also wondering if the single volume (no tone) does only apply to single hum - otherwise, what happens with the switch position? I'd have thought they wouldn't leave it at the standard position for each model, simply because with a single pot I'd guess most people would want the toggle around where the tone is on an SL2H, and the blade moved back and up compared to an SL1.

So maybe single volume does only apply to single pickup guitars, which would be a shame IMO.

They started that on the July Custom Select list last year. They were n/c in January, then $50 in July. Now $75. My next batch of CS guitars will all be standard pickups and I'll just offer a swap at point of purchase. Ends up costing about the same but you'll have the removed stock pickups to use or sell as desired.

Standard pickups are included. Refer to the base model specs for n/c pickups on each model. http://wpc.077d.edgecastcdn.net/0007...odel-specs.pdf

So what you're saying is if I order a custom shop King V I still get the JB's for free?

How is that possible? I thought the Floyd Rose sustainer isn't manufactured any more. Who makes this sustainer?

I don't know who actually manufacturers the Jackson Sustainer that is in the PC1. Not sure that information is made available to the public, but it could very well be the same company who made the FR Sustainer for Kramer 30 years ago. Could even be the same company who makes the Fernandes Sustainer. I don't know. In any case Jackson has one in the PC1 and will certainly make it available to a Masterbuilt customer. Maniac Music makes the Sustainiac system.
