thanks. I suspected it might have been since they've been using them on the SL1 forever.
      Hail yesterday

Yeah, and apparently they are an OEM contract pickup because Duncan hasn't sold those for quite some time.

On that note, the Custom Select SL1 that I got last week, I ordered it with Hot Rails and Cool Rails, and both of the pickups are the old style Duncan Rails, not the new ones that look like they have a cover on them. They haven't sold the old ones in a good 5 years.

Ok, this might be a tough one: So the Custom Select are doing non-recessed floyds now. But will they also adjust the neck angle? I don't know the luthiers-slang for this, but guitars with non-recessed floyds have this little 'ramp' between the body and the neck, so the neck angle is adjusted in order to make the non-recessed floyd go both ways.

Needless to say: I want a non-recessed floyd, but I totally need the matching neck angle.

Yes, they build the guitar with the appropriate neck angle to match the chosen bridge: recessed trem, non-recessed trem or TOM.

Yeah, neck angle isn't really a "feature", but rather a necessity to allow proper range of action height adjustment.

                  Thanks again, killerburst!

@Chad: it sure is, but there are so much guitars with a non-recess who don't have that feature. On old ESP guitars it's a rarity I think.

I've had some old ESPs in the past and honestly don't remember. As long as there is plenty of action height range adjustment, that's all that matters. With that said, if a bridge sits very high off the body, the guitar about HAS to have some form of neck angle. Or another way is to have the entire neck sit up higher off the body. Gretsch did/does this.

                    • My old 80's Baretta's are a great example of non recessed trems and the old school neck angle. They're some of my favorite playing and sounding guitars.
This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

                      • Lots of new options are very tempting now.

                        - rear-loaded RRs (no pickguard)
                        - 24 fret RRs
                        - mahogany bodies and necks
                        - single hum and hum-single PU layouts
                        - reverse headstocks
                        - non-recessed Floyds on any body style
                        - TOMs on any body style
                        - locking tuners
                        - and more!

Anyone want a KV TOM, all mahogany, locking tuners and pointy head?

                        Quilt-top, mahogany, rear-loaded RR24?

All mahogany, HS, non- recessed, solid color Soloist?

Must ...resist... the urge to order another guitar! LOL

                        • That KV does sound extremely tempting!

                          • Wish they'd allow reverse sharkfin inlays, though. That seems to be the one obvious thing missing. I mean, if you're going to allow LH guitars as an option, reverse sharkies is just using a LH fretboard on a RH guitar. Should be a no brainer.

                            • Did anyone notice the binding options? They can do white instead of ivoroid!

What do Jacksons with white head and neck binding look like?

I was told by a dealer a few days ago, reverse sharkfins are now an option for the Custom Select program.
