John Suhr is one of the sources of my information. Their thin skin finish option is a urethane finish and is offered for the reasons I stated.

I believe there are differences between the two when it comes to hiding wood seams and poly-e has a slight advantage here._________________________________________________

This is what I think of Gibson since 1993. I HATE BEING LEFT HANDED! I rock out to Baby metal because Wilkinsi said I can't listen to Rick Astley anymore.

I remember when I was a kid, I had (still have) a Jackson JS-20 and wanted to paint it. I soaked the body in paint thinner, and it didn't do jack shit to burn the paint off. I had to literally chip the paint away with a chisel, and it came off like a plastic coating. It was thicker than a 2.0mm guitar pick and took me 2 days to chip the paint away.
I know this wasnt a USA Jackson, quite the opposite, but does anyone know what the hell paint was used on this? I can't imagine painting a guitar body with paint so thick, it resembles a plastic shell, rather than liquid paint.

Actually, John Suhr uses POLYESTER. Like i said Polyester is as good as urethane or Nitro when applied properly.

You are mostly correct, polyester is the standard material for bodies. However they use urethane for the satin finish on necks and if you request a thin skin finish they use urethane on the body, too. I don't have to watch the video again, I was just at the factory last month picking out woods for custom builds so the information I picked up in-person is still fresh in my mind.
Hope that helps.
