I wouldn't buy that axe simply due to those switches.....

For the last 4 or 5 years, I've been saving pics and location/pricing info on every J, RR and 4 digit bolt-on I've found on the net. Problem is I don't have the computer skills to build a site, plus of course, the pics aren't mine and that obviously can create problems (sharing someone else's content).

I actually liked them a lot when I had my Model 6, and I could switch them on/off no problem.

They are limiting production to 30. Why wouldn't we be interested!
I have always preferred the Strat over the Soloist, and I have said for a long time that I am not buying a new (previously unsold) guitar any time soon - unless my situation drastically change.

They are a pain for sure. Great in the studio if you want all the options, but otherwise they are just inconvenient..

Same here, and I still have my Model 6. Those mini switches are no big deal to get used to. Interestingly, if you look closely at pix of Randy Rhoads' original black/gold Rhoads it has a single mini switch for a pickup selector instead of a normal toggle switch too. I always wondered why? I can see 3 minis for the switching combinations but on his Rhoads with only one? Hmm.

What do you like about them them? I can't think of anything? lol - I could switch them off/on too, but they certainly were not near as efficient as a regular toggle....they just don't really make sense to me....the last thing I want to worry about playing live is switching pickups....just my opinion of course...

I just thought they were neat, and those big paddle switches felt cool, easy to use. Now, if it were to have the normal size mini switches, I probably wouldn't like them as much.

Fair enough dude. I've only had the 3 mini switches (on a Ibanez 540S) and I found them awkward as hell...

Never had a problem with the mini switches, you just get used to them. Besides, they give you more PU combo options than a 5 way.

As to Randy's black RR, could've been a 3 way mini toggle. They do / did make them back then. I had one put on my SD Soloist back then, to give me a coil tapped bridge H option.

If it's a mini toggle (kinda looks like one), it could have been a case of "use what we have on hand"...it was a prototype, after all.

Yep, there's been a bit of a Jackson exodus to ESP USA. From what I've heard, working for Jackson/FMIC isn't the most enjoyable thing. Seems to have been a good move for Chris; I know Greg (long time setup/assembly guy) is there now, too.
