  • Found this cool older Rhoads that bummed me out

Just got back from vacation in Orlando. While I was there, I stopped into a Guitar Center since I happened to be driving past it. Found this older Rhoads that was sitting in the tech section waiting getting some work done on it. I asked the tech about in case it was getting ready for the floor to be sold. The tech said it was a San Dimas but he wouldn't give me the serial #. He also said a customer brought it in for some work, including routing it for a neck pick up. I asked him if he was joking but unfortunately he said "No, that's what the customer asked for." I just shook my head, walked out of the store and was bummed for a while after hearing that. Don't often get to see a single hum, rear-loaded Rhoads like this. Sad to see such a cool guitar get modified. But I guess the owner can do what he wants to it and make it more usable to them. Still a bummer though.

    Check it out.

Right, otherwise, it would already have a neck pickup (if it was a San Dimas)!

Everything was custom back then, certainly could've been some single hum RRs. But, yeah, that's not a SD to begin with.

Well that's good to know and I can sleep better. Guess I learned to trust my instinct rather than a tech from GC. LOL

Do people that work in GC ever know what they're talking about?

I'm sure they've accidentally hired some knowledgeable staff. Perhaps even retained a few.

                          Love RR0051.

RR0150 is no slouch either, but 51 is just plain awesome.

                            +1. That one's just awesome.

Wondering about the nut, though - converted to a Floyd?
