Request for Vintage Chlorine Pictures

Hoping to get some detailed high-res pictures of the vintage chlorine finish. I mean the way they used to do PC1s in the pre-Strathead era, bright Aqua and Blue burst edge, all analyne dye. Not how they do them now (crummy). I have seen a few full-on custom shop guitars done right in the last few years too, though, so those would be cool as well.

Yes. I organized that run, actually, and own one. LOL. Still need the pics.

And gorgeous old PC1, my friend! Love the way they used to do these, and the quality figuring to the tops. Sadly, very rare now.

And yeah, my old one was a stunning looking guitar, and the new chlorine burst just looks clumsy in comparison. I also prefer the 2 pot layout of the older ones, plus this one was koa too.

Here's one my wife took a while ago. She was trying to get arty with a new camera, so not the best picture.



In the end, I believe there were only two vintage chlorides and two - maybe three - vintage solars built. Great guitars, they all came out smoking.

So what were the differences then Pat? Just the dye, or did they do a quilt board or koa? Obviously, they still have the tone knob..

Yeah, the analyne dye with the old-style vintage triple step finishes. And "hand selected" premium quilt tops. That was nudge-nudge wink-wink code for using the best quilt they had. I wanted to go with the old-style two knob setup, too, but they couldn't do it. We talked about koa, but decided to stick with mahogany to keep the cost more reasonable.

Here's a pic I had in my library. Not sure where I grabbed it from years ago. Maybe this came from Brook's group - honestly don't remember. But they have some of the nicest quilts on them. Is this what you're looking for Pat?

Not looking for a specific guitar, if that's what you mean. Just need some high res cool examples of the original style finish.

It's amazing how different chlorine has become right? Even your (Pat) recent 'old school' one doesn't look anything much like the originals..

I have a Strat head Dinky on order in Chlorine. I didn't specify anything specific about the color. I wonder what I'll get
