Ah, maybe it's just the pic, but it looks like it's got more of a pastel tone to it than slime.
Anyway, sucks about the middle pickup. Maybe try something that's higher output and then lower it as much as you can.

I really like this series. The only thing that bugs the hell out of me are the white or zebra humbuckers. I'd rip those out as soon as I got the guitar.
