Fixing a beat RR1

Hey guys , I just joined the forum so this is my first post.

I just bought an old beat RR1(Got for a great price), I believe it's from '97 and has a original Floyd and the eerie swirl finish
It does have a headstock repair and some battles scars, but I'm more worried about playability than looks

I plan on gutting it and getting new electronics and pickups, possibly a new Floyd down the line. The Floyd has some rust , the pickups rusted bad and hardware and guitar itself is pretty darn grimy ( Don't think the kid I got it from ever cleaned it )

I have one of those Dunlop cleaner kits on the way, Any tips on cleaning her up?
As for electronics I plan on running a single volume and a three way toggle, Any suggestions on were to find decent components?
As for Pickups I'm leaning towards the Duncan black winter in the bridge.. Not sure about the neck Maybe the set? or a Jazz or a 59?

Disassemble the floyd and let all the parts soak in wd 40 for few days. Then scrub with toothbrush. That usually does the trick.

Right on, Any other tricks on cleaning the hardware?

A soft brush should clean the hardware.

I use deoxit on old electronics. Or fork out the cash for new pots, caps, wires and switches.

steel wool 0000 cleans the fretboard. Then finish with lemon oil.

i used air filter cleaner got all the rust off my original floyd in my dean simular to wd 40 put the bits in a sealed plastic bag spray loads in there seal bag shake it up then soak them in water dry thoroughly
