Personally I'd find a set of Jackson pups to go in to fit that oversized ring and look original again. Something weird is going on with that front route, my guess is it was originally non-flanged, then somebody enlarged it slightly for a flanged pup, then somebody put an EMG in which doesn't even need the flange?? You could find a non-flanged J100 to go in, or enlarge that route properly to fit a flanged pup with proper clearance. The off-white EMG's look like shit in there.

Cool axe, and a great score, but not a San Dimas. Has to be 1987 or later.

Right. the neck plate threw me. The guitar is made in Jan 1988. Were there any Jackson bolt on's made in San Dimas?

Axewielder, i wonder which Jackson hum would match the guitar. j-80? I agree about the color of the EMG's. I'm going to attempt to paint them black before installing them in something else.

Of course, (in Glendora, CA), and serial number 1500 or so is the end of the run.

Geez! That cleaned up nice! How's the back of it?

                Well done on the score.

Shramiac, the back strangely is in great shape. no hint of the usual buckle rash.

I'd try to find a J80C or a J90C unless you want lower output, then I'd go with a J50BC. If I couldn't score any of those I might try an Alnico version in there. Jackson seemed to pair up the ceramic versions with rosewood boards quite a bit, so that's probably what was in there. It's not that important though, I'd go with what's available and sounds good.

Very nice guitar, congratulate. This is the first I see with non reverse headstock. The tone control seems original to me, because the togle is closer to the volume pot as usual.
Mine had this japanese made J90C pickup and a J100 single. I don't suggest this type of pickup. If you wants a good tone, buy instead a made in usa J90 or any other non f-spaced pickup and you can use an original jackson pickup cover to look the guitar original.

Otherwise I like how the neck looks with gold hardware. Can you take a closer picture of the tremolo cavity?
