I super lucked out today scoring a San Dimas Dinky for $100 off craigslist from a guy working at a recording studio. It's by far the best deal that I've ever gotten. I got it home, started to remove the stickers covering the front and to my surprise I saw a custom penciled graphic. The pickups are some type of EMG. Maybe a 81 and a S that doesn't sound too bad. I'm usually a passive guy. Maybe they'll stay possibility painted black. The original trem has been replaced by a BC Rich Floyd that looks like it may have been made by Gotoh japan. The saddles look exactly like an old Ibanez Edge's. The tuners were changed to gold Gotah's at one time. Why I have no idea.. It looks like someone drilled and installed a tone control. It needs a new locking nut and a gold knob for the tone control. I'll post a better picture when I get it cleaned up. I'm guessing this is from 86-87 but I'm not a expert. Maybe someone else has an idea. I got to order some parts.

One heck of a deal indeed, a pencil sketch Dinky for $100?? It originally had a JT6, so I'd try to score one of those (or an OFR)._________________________________________________

I actually may have a jt-6 stashed away. it had a problem when i bent some strings that the note would fart out when the bridge slightly tilted up that drove me nuts and one or two of the rear string locks was pretty stripped so I replaced it. Anyway, maybe I can fix it.

It amazes me that people know how to use Craig's List but has no idea how to use google. Even someone just googling "charvel" would be hard pressed finding a single guitar in any condition for anywhere near $100. Heck, you can barely find guitars, period, for that.
And it's even harder to believe that someone would list and then just look at the first email that came in and say, "ok done!" How many people contacted this guy since with much bigger offers?
And the guy was (somewhat) in the music biz?

I said the same thing about the guy that bought the Fender a couple weeks ago.
Yet, I just talked to a guy selling an Ibanez, the picture had a Charvel Model 4 in the background --- he said it wasn't for sale, but he bought it for $60.

Here's the front cleaned up. Thank god for lighter fluid..
The bridge EMG is a 85 and the trem is a Japanese Takeuchi that looks like it has a nice hardened base taken from a American BC Rich that probably suffered a sad fate. Some people just don't respect "metal" guitars.
I have to order a Kahler locking nut. The original is missing all the dime screws and one of the flat parts that they screw into.
I'm still not sure what I'm going to do about the trem/pickups. I do have a extra jt-6 and also a black Jackson labeled Schaller that needs a few saddles and a 42mm block. Worst case the EMG will find a home in a ESP M1 Custom that I could never fully tame it's brightness.
