Here is the full size version so you can see up close how good it looks. And yes... it gets played all the time. I wash my hands first and wipe it down before it goes back in the case.

should be a matte finish to it as they are not clear coated. Keep at her and I'm sure she'll clean up great. I love my Solar PC1, but I would love one of the naturals if the opportunity/price was timed right.

Nope... I've thought about it myself.
But every time I pick it up I just love the way it feels and the idea is gone.
I do think it would look awesome with a nice shiny clear on it, but again, it won't feel the same.

I've just spent some time with toothbrush and naphtha and I'm getting nowhere with this. The black dirt is just turning to grey and it looks much the same as when I first got it. The lemon oil has brought out the quilt a bit more, but it still looks overall fucking filthy. It's really pissing me off.
Some people think it looks great and the dirt adds character. I just think the dirt adds a black mess that detracts from what should be a beautiful looking guitar.

What's my next step if I want to get this thing looking almost as good as new? Would using wet-and-dry paper get deep enough into the wood to remove the dirt? Would it be advisable? Could I use some harsher sandpaper to get down further, then wet-and-dry then lemon oil?
I could probably sell it for about £1500 and just wait on another - clean - model coming up for sale, but honestly, this thing plays like a beast, I LOVE it. The guy might not have cleaned it but he had it well setup!

You can try some sanding with 600 or 800 grit to see if it helps. If it does, finish up with some wet 1500 grit to polish it back up afterwards.
It's really going to depend on how deep the dirt is set into the grain.
The top is 1/8" thick, but don't go crazy with the sanding.

Ha, holy shit man, sandpaper works! I've got the body looking good, gonna try the fretboard now.

Make sure you mask the frets of with tape.
