Ngd: Dk1

Got this sweet dk1 a few months ago. Plays so damn good. The construction feels so stout and tight. Its a really rigid guitar. And it weighs just as much as my 80's Jackson strat. This guitar has a more meaty and bassy tone than sl1's and rr1's. Could be the all alder body. It has a few cosmetic flaws such as the paint fade on the headstock but it doesnt really bother me. I got it at a really great price. Anyway here are some pictures.

By the way a shout out to frets on the net for making a pickup selector tip that fits a switchcraft switch. Thanks

DiMarzio Air Classics. Very happy with them. The key to good tone IMO is a low output pickup with tube overdrive.

BTW I did all the wiring myself and I still consider myself a rookie when it comes down to guitar tech. Having said that I have a general question on wiring..
I want to split the pickups. Can I control the splitting for both pickups with one DiMarzio push pull pot?

I've heard good things about the Air Classics. Yes, it's possible with any push/pull pot to have both pickups split by the one pot. Not sure exactly how to do it, as I don't do my own wiring, but it can indeed be done. Or you can just have two separate pots (one for each pickup).

Also, not sure if you'd want to do it with a switch, but DiMarzio does make a "Petrucci" Les Paul-type switch that will do the same thing (I can't remember the model number offhand). When in the middle position, you can have the inner coils on together, for example, like John Petrucci does it... and I've got my Carvin set up the same way, as I never really felt the need to have two full humbuckers running at the same time.

They really are great pickups. They kinda sound like a tone zone but more airy with less out put and less midrange.

Yeah i think ima go ahead and attempt to wire the coil splits. I really like the sound of single coils
