Hello everyone. I am new to your forum. I mainly own ESP and Tom Anderson guitars but recently picked up a Jackson Relic Rhoads. From my research it is a one-off from the 2004 NAMM show. While researching the guitar, I actually found it in one of your forum threads that is archived: http://www.jcfonline.com/archive/index.php/t-3553.html . It matches the guitar described in the thread, including the serial number, but there is no Mike Shannon autograph on the back of the headstock.
I would like to find out more about this guitar so wondered if anyone still here is familar with it. From the sparse details the seller had it was a one off NAMM piece. He said he had a lot of interest in it from some famous guitarists but did not indicate who. Upon arrival I called Jackson but their information was somewhat mixed. The guy I talked to was totally amped up about the guitar and how great it was and wished he had it. He was able to give me some details I was looking for like the pickup models and confirmed it was built in 2004. He said it would be worth a lot but said the price was too high to even guesstimate at an MSRP. He indicated the costs for materials on their build sheet was >$2K. He also stated it was built by Grover Jackson.
I am not that familiar with Jackson guitars but picked it up because it looked like an interesting piece and I liked the old school features like the brass bridge, older style script logo, nibs over fretwire, G&G case, etc. Plus because it was reliced, I didn't feel scared to bash the tips in.
Can anyone share additional details on this piece. My understanding is it is modeled after a 1982 owned by Mike Shannon but I don't know if the mimicry includes the relicing.
I might try contacting Jackson again to see if they can send me any sort of summary on the instrument.
Thanks a lot. I will be most appreciative of any help I can get
