would anybody be interested in a small batch run ? am looking at a 1/8" flame top bbq mahogany body ebony fretboard maybe a tiger eye finish or a charcoal finishing ? just need to confirm on number of interestees before i enquire...

A drop top is a veneer: it's 'sliced' on the back of the top rear corner before gluing and then vacuum sealed so you can get a forearm contour.Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable

the term veneer is a highly misused word...I agree that by my vocabulary (30+ years as a carpenter) it's 1/42" thick...but many others abuse the term and consider veneer to be up to 1/4"...shrugs shoulders...
either way, for a carved top you need something thicker than 1/8" for sure...that is unless you plan on having 'real' veneer vacuum pressed to a carved substrate like on Epiphone Les Pauls
