jackson sl2h archtop run ?

would anybody be interested in a small batch run ? am looking at a 1/8" flame top bbq mahogany body ebony fretboard maybe a tiger eye finish or a charcoal finishing ? just need to confirm on number of interestees before i enquire...

You wouldn't get an archtop out of a 1/8" top..

You can send in colour samples for them to match, but it's not a 100% process, partly due to the woods.

thx... and i still have no idea for a regular sl2h with flame top is a veneer or a drop top ?

A drop top is a veneer: it's 'sliced' on the back of the top rear corner before gluing and then vacuum sealed so you can get a forearm contour.

Hi neilli thanks again for chiming in but i have always thought that a venner wood is just very thin sliced of paper thickness or cardboard thickness just thin and easy enough to glue on just for appearance where a drop top is a much thicker sliced of wood of 5mm thickness just thick enough to contribute for that added crips and attack in this case a maple top and still thin enough to glue on in this case usually to be is a 5-6mm flame maple top (1/8")

the term veneer is a highly misused word...I agree that by my vocabulary (30+ years as a carpenter) it's 1/42" thick...but many others abuse the term and consider veneer to be up to 1/4"...shrugs shoulders...

either way, for a carved top you need something thicker than 1/8" for sure...that is unless you plan on having 'real' veneer vacuum pressed to a carved substrate like on Epiphone Les Pauls
