  • Jackson PC1 neck - how fat is it?

Hi! This is my first thread on this forum, so please be nice!

I am really considering a jackson pc1, my problem is that I don't have the chance to try it before I eventually buy one. Could you guys try to describe the neck to me? I am looking for a fat stratocaster neck. How fat is the neck? Could you maybe compare it to some other guitar? My current main guitar is a fender deluxe stratocaster, now I'm looking for something with a fatter neck.

The neck is fat. It is VERY comfortable and easy to get used to. While I no longer gig my PC-1, the neck is still my favorite shape. I can't compare it to anything else I have because I have a ton of different brands - EBMM, PRS, Fender, Hamer, Ibanez, Brian Moore - and multiple models within each brand. I can guess the closest neck would be the wide/fat neck on my PRS CU24 Floyd.
      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I'd say the PC1 neck is bigger than the neck on a production Fender strat, assuming it has a standard-ish neck not some weird oversize thing. The PC1 has a conical radius though, so the board will feel 'flatter' than on a strat..

Thank you guys! I really like the wide/fat PRS profile, so if the PC1 is similar, that's a good thing! By the way, I read somewhere that the PC1 neck i similar to the Jackson Adrian Smith neck, is that true? Because the Adrian Smith neck is not that fat.

No, the PC1 neck is appreciably fatter than the AS - I ordered a custom PC1 with the AS profile because I prefer a thinner neck.

Phil Collen has a custom LP-ish Jackson with a FAT neck, which was 1" or slightly over at the nut; Pablo from Jackson had given me the specs.

Phil's necks are fatter than the production PC1s.

+1 Brooks has a pic showing just how much bigger Phil's necks are than the production guitar.

Phil's neck are indeed MILES fatter than any production Jackson. Someone years ago at the Jackson CS dubbed them 2 x Phil as a joke!

I held one of his PC Supreme's a few years ago and it was classical guitar territory.

I have NEVER held a neck so thick and chunky. He told me that it truly was the fattest neck that either Mike or Pablo had ever come across.

Now add some 13-56 strings to that equation and ask yourself just how the man actually plays those things! LOL!

There is a guy selling one on facebook, (jcfonline), I asked how thick the neck was and he said his was a thin neck.
It is a strat head version, newer model. So they are available with a thin neck, I suppose.
