Absolutely. Even the wife loves the looks of it. The only changes I'm going to make will be a large brass block and a push-pull volume pot to split the humbuckers. This guitar has a great natural crunch to it and I actually like the JB in this guitar.

i used to have a transblack SL2H selected series back in 2002.. i got it with all my money when i was still a student.. i then sold it years later due to a terrible encounter after sending off for repair.. now back ordering a solid black sl2h and am craving for a transblack quilt SL2H...black ? it is in modern sophistication ...

but just wondering does the solid color ie black or etc... does have a maple cap on? i guess if not the tone would be rather different from those with flame/quilted top... anybody here who can tell any difference of these solid colors build to those with flame or quilted top in tone?

It probably has more to do with the solid color paint holding the tone in versus the transparent finish that allows the tone to shine through.

haha... lol no what i meant was does these solid colored jacksons have maple cap on ? if not how different it sound like with those with the flame or quilt on top ?

am thinking on of getting mahogany wings with a 250usd upcharge but thinking of these jackson with usually thick finishes does it sound different too between the mahogany winged and those with alder wings to it ? i guess the color only adds the attitude to your expression and what your after...

There is no maple cap on the standard solid color soloist. I think the pickups have the most effect on tone. I do notice a slight difference in my mahogany soloist.

i just got it ... the SL2H black ! its used and it came with MCP afawyu pickup.. got it off from a guy from another forum... its said to be a 2004 era build... very nice very clean for a used 2004.. but this soloist has a very unsual ebony board which i found streaks of browns on some areas... i understand its nature of the ebony wood... but didnt jackson used to have those striking black ebonies ?

i heard back then they dyed the natural ebony to jet black ? or did they use a different grade of ebony ? its a well played fine guitar !! love it !

am ordering soon a transblack quilted top
