  • NHGD! Jackson neck-thru Dinky Strathead?

    New Holy Grail Day!

Did you ever want to see a neck-thru Strathead?

It's a bit bittersweet because they messed up a couple of things, it took 39 months to get and it's still not here. Fender contacted... we'll see what happens.

Specs: Mahogany 80's spec Dinky body with non-recessed Gotoh Floyd Rose, EMG 85 and 1 volume, 22 fret ebony fretboard with outline inlays and binding over fret ends, reverse Strathead maple and ebony 5 piece neck with outline inlays. No trem cavity cover, SD route and battery holder.

What they messed up? The maple was supposed to be birdseye (upcharge), the logo was supposed to be parallel to the strings, and it wasn't supposed to get Made in USA or the CS logo.

But, it is what it is.

I need to thank Matt at Matt's Music for facilitating the deal, Robert @ Fender for working with me and Fender Legal for approving an open order to get whatever I want.

    Pictures courtesy of Matt!

    Enjoy!

Oh, I forgot to mention one of the best features... Football jack plate with recessed input jack!

Sweet mother of pearl that is sexy as all buggery, must've been an agonizing wait.

I can imagine this with a maple board but it would start to look like a Charvel.

    Congrats for when it arrives.

lol, yeah the wait was hell, and if you examine the specs. it's kinda based off my 89 Strathead.

Dinky body and ebony fretboard with binding over the fret ends and sharkies are all definitely Jackson, not Charvel. That was definitely on purpose. I didn't want a Charvel with a Jackson logo. lol

Since it's your new grail surely you must be ready to let that white Japanese 1h Strat go. The economy being what it is and all.

Great looking specs and def one of a kind. It's remarkable how often Jackson is saying "ok" on spec requests the last year or so. I seem to recall Xeno having something (or everything) to do with that, so I'm glad you're able to enjoy some of the fruits of that labor.

One of the simplest tenets that even great businesses forget- "let's make it easy to do business with us". Glad they are.

Next concept for mastery? "Read the work order, then read it again."

I was looking at it wondering if there was room for a parallel logo, but then you said that it wasn't to have the other parts to it, so it would have easily fit.

Very nice piece!!! Shame on the specs, incompetence is running rampant anymore. But anyways, a fantastic piece for sure!!!

That is sweet. Glad to hear Jackson is being more accommodating on custom builds. I am working with a dealer on a quote for a new CS and trying to get Schaller Hannes bridge. Hoping it will be allowed.
