    Thanks Pete!

I chatted a bit with Kurt, he wasn't completely clear on the issue but he said they're not really wanting to do them they're really only considering accepting Strathead neckthrus if you get PC's approval first. Phil actually got 2 new guitars, the neckthru Strathead and a neckthru rounded pointy headstock. And... mine was the first.

Here is the wood selection choice for approval they didn't send until now. LOL This is the discarded piece cut from the neck.... I love it anyway.

Huh? Set neck... that's pretty lame. Well, it's an awesome guitar and you're happy, but you wanted neck-thru and they just cut corners by giving you a shorter neck that's only set in? Does it cost more to be neck-thru? I'd be asking for some money back.

Yeah, that sure is strange, if the work order stipulated neck thru..

Ah, I just talked to Kurt and this is an off-cut from the back of the neck - I guess the 'curve' at the bottom is from the heel..

Yeah, that means that the neck is a real neck thru, unlike most other neck thrus with an added piece of lumber, mine actually is... and it's the most resonant Jackson I've ever strummed... It's acoustically loud as hell.

Thanks! I can't wait to get her back. Logo was redone some time last week.

Throughly enjoyed reading this thread. Absolutely gorgeous guitar, congrats.

Jackson's recent custom shop attention to detail does seem to be lacking slightly though (regardless of how willing they are to put it right, for this kind of money it should be literally perfect).

My experience with the custom shop has been that there are sometimes a few details that get missed.
As many have stated, you could argue that this is unacceptable given the prices - I get that.

However, I would offer that if it has the sound and feels right, that's what matters - despite any small things that weren't exactly as you anticipated. In fact, I think that in a weird way, this somehow contributes to the vibe of many of these guitars.
Sometimes those little things actually make it cooler.

For what it's worth, I think it looks like an exceptional custom piece.

Thanks! The only real issue I had is being corrected, so when that's done, I'll be completely satisfied. I do wish I ordered it with an LSR nut and locking tuners instead of a Floyd nut, but that's only a minor gripe and one I didn't forsee when I actually placed that order. Otherwise, it took me several decades of owning CS Jacksons and Charvels to come up with the specs for that guitar. It's a couple of pounds heavier than I expected it would be or I might have ordered it cut with tone chambers, but that's not a deal breaker either.

Yeah, I see your point. Some things I can accept as adding character - others are just poor craftsmanship. For example, fret slots that are actually cut into the binding (on about four frets...). Kinda defeats the point of having binding.

Well I finally got the guitar back and it included a surprise... they took the waste piece of the neck blank and made a tributary out of it. They put a large Made in USA Jackson logo and the whole shop signed it in paint pen!

And you get to see the nifty place they put the Made in USA!

That is really cool and nice of the shop to do.

And the logo looks much better now that it's straight.

I know the Custom Shop gets flak from time to time, but by fuck, when they get it right.....
