Looking for Jackson info on an 80's USA Dinky

New to this forum. Hoping someone could help me to identify a Jackson guitar I inherited recently from a family member who passed. I am more of an acoustic player and unfamiliar with Jacksons.

In looking at the Jackson website for info and reading through some online info I think it's a USA Dinky, made in 87-89 as it has a bolt on neck is serial number 2702. What I can't figure out is if the bridge pickup was modified as it is a Seymour Duncan and the screws for the bezel don't match the other pickup. Also, is this maple neck with the dots typical? Seems like most have the "shark teeth".

Yeah, more pics would be good. The bridge pickup looks to have been swapped, because it appears that there was originally an 'oversize' pickup and ring in there (like the neck) originally. Looks like the tone pot was added too.

Maple with dots is not "typical" but it's not unheard of either. However, the V-trem is very unusual, which makes me wonder..

I saw the headstock on it but we still need more to go on. headstock has a standard nut, no locking. "made in USA" is after the jackson script so after 1986. most likely a dinky with oversized dual hum, standard trem/nut. tone is def an addition.

Appreciate all the info so far. I've taken some more pics with the rear plates removed and some close ups of the bridge and pickups. Also wondering if the case is original? Only markings I can find on it is "Made in Canada".

Looks like a USA body the Vtrem is odd for that year but they were all custom orders back then.

Does that logo look crooked? Not saying that it is on at a bad angle, I am asking if it looks like it actually curves. Like someone was drunk when putting the sticker on and the straight line became a crooked line.

I don't like the finish. Which could be the pictures. Something just looks off.

Maple board and dots are not unheard of, just not the most desired (and therefore ordered) specs.
And, no, that case is not original. I mean, it could be the original case that it was bought with from the store. Stores have been known to swap cases, or charge extra for them which causes people to buy a cheaper one. But it is certainly not the case that Jackson supplied. I am not even sure that it is a 'healthy' case for that guitar. It looks like the headstock is leaning against the bottom, and there is a lot of room for that body to shuffle.



Ultimately, assuming it is real and not fake, you could probably sell it on craigslist for $500 to go buy yourself an acoustic.

DiMarzio trem predates that guitar IMO.In that time frame they would have used a Gotoh 105 V trem.
Odd to see a V trem in that time period but you could order it that way.
The logo does look a little off but looks original.
The paint looks like a refin but I really can't tell from the pics.
The only way to figure out if the body is legit is to peel the paint in the trem cavity and see if there is a grid stamp on it under the paint.
Usually they would put a piece of tape over the grid stamp prior to painting so you can peel the tape back and it should have some built info on it.
My black sparkle is kind of like that and I had to dig thru the paint in the cavity to find the work order number and other info.
Mine originally had a skull and cross bones graphic according to the grid stamp.

It's not a Dinky, more of a Jackson strat shape. I've never seen one with a v-trem. The non-locking nut lends credence to it.

I wonder if someone swapped the DiMarzio trem? Or sent it to them? I know a couple of people that bought Floyds from Kramer (for $400!) when the shop couldn't get them and sent them in to have them on their guitars.
