Thanks guys. I actually did reach out to Steve when I missed H8's but that one is not in stock. Hence the going down the CS select road.

Well. It wouldn't be my first color choice.

I was looking at that trans black flame top sl2ht on eBay also, but I was wanting a sl1t.

A friend found me a sl1t in a crazy blue flamed color so my journey is over.
the hard tails soloist are pretty rare, if you see one you like jump on it. Good luck in your search.

lol my sl1t looks just about like that blue one but mine is a little darker.

A used SL1T is even harder to locate than an SL2HT. Same goes for the DK1T...rarer than hens teeth.

Dang! I wish I would have known the rarity of these. SL2H's are everywhere so I figured everyone loved a Floyd.

What are these horror stories? I haven't really seen any issues with Custom Select orders either here or on FB. There's not really much to go wrong... they're mostly CNC and quality has been much more consistent than in decades past. I'd only suggest to make sure you're kept in every step of the process of a true Custom Shop order because they might get a work order detail wrong, but almost all of those mistakes are cosmetic.

CJ Corona, I think, has actually improved on the overall quality of guitar production while making them more generic at the same time.

I've heard about delays, bad workmanship and wrong orders. I thought I saw one guitar come out with 23 frets.

IF the price is a little high, email him and see if he'll deal.

                      Good luck in your search
I also have dealt with Steve and he's awesome. He only carries badass guitars and has a really awesome Guitar Tech that works there. They are some very cool guys to go to their shop and hang out with while checking out all the badass guitars in one place. The only issue I have with them is they have to many badass guitars and I could easily see draining my bank account in there. They even do the FU upgrades on site. They have guitars there with and without the upgrades so you can play the same exact guitar and hear the difference.
If you want a Custom Shop or special model Jackson I can't see any reason not to contact Steve.

Yep, a Kelly did come out with 23 frets. And there was a 7-string that got 25 frets.

Yeah. Those two were the ones that I saw. And I'm sure that for every bad guitar there are quite a few goods ones, but I know my patience level isn't going to be the best after a 6 month + wait to see a guitar with something less than the best.

There's a trans red SL1T on Seattle's Craigs List. Not sure if trans red or and SL1T is your thing, but thought I would pass it along in case you had any interest.

Thank you. I appreciate that. It's always funny contacting a CL poster out of state. I so sound like a scam artist. "Hi. I'm out of state and would like you to ship the guitar to me."

Those were both custom orders, as far as I know... the 23 fret Kelly was a mistake by Pablo who got fired what, 3 years ago? Not sure about the 25 fret 7 string. That's actually a mistake that would be kind of cool. lol

You realize there's a big difference between Custom Select and Custom Shop right? One is mostly CNC by whomever punches the time clock and the other is sort of hand made by different (skilled luthier) people. I wouldn't order another Custom Shop guitar if you paid me, but Custom Select, as far as I know, has not suffered the same fate as Custom Shop orders.

So your fears are a bit irrational because you're confusing apples and rotten bananas.
