NGD - 1987 Jackson Dinky in blue crackle, signed by Grover on back of headstock

Dig it - it's nearly all original, but a former owner replaced the JT-sux tremolo with a much better Schaller unit. This guitar plays and sounds great, and makes me wonder how many of these signed Crackle finish Jacksons were made.....I know the fire crackle ones were numbered, but this one just has a signature on the back of the headstock.

I took this guitar out and gigged it literally 2 days after she arrived......

Anyone else got one of these signed crackle Dinkys?

Definitely a cool guitar! But there were so many signed by Grover that the signatures outnumbered the Customs! Sort of like the LTD '88, they were super expensive when new, but they made so many of that series that it made the idea of a Custom Jackson kind of silly.

I have the exact same guitar as you. I haven't pulled it out of the case in years but I think mine is just like yours, Grover's signature but no xx/100. I'll dig it out tonight and take some pics.

lepard - yours is eXACTLY like mine, even the signatures look similar.

I guess these were like those limited 88s......I know they wre initially expensive, and then got price dropped.

i snagged it because i wanted a beater/player for gigs, especially for outdoor gigs or other gigs where I might not want to bring my nicer guitars. really happy with this one as a player, and the J-50B humbucker sounds better than i remember!

I think the Jackson humbuckers are very underrated IMHO. Really like the PAF qualities of the 50. My favorite is the J80 with the J80C close behind.

yeah, back in the 80s i had J-95C pickups in my custom ordered Jackson strats.....they were pretty high output - but i didn't use effects, just plugged into my mesa MK III heads and rawked...

yes - and many people don't know that all those pickups were hand wound by the legendary Abby Ybarra, on the vintage Fender pickup winding machines that made the 50s and 60s strat pickups. those 80s Jackson pickups were wound by the woman who now makes the $1200 a set Fender Custom Shop pickups!!!

Correct me if I am wrong, but...

1) I didn't think Abigail Ybarra worked for anyone except Fender

2) Jackson was not part of Fender when Jackson was still making Jackson-branded pickups

3) I thought Abigail Ybarra retired, so technically she is not "the woman who NOW MAKES the $1200 a set Fender Custom Shop pickups"

You are wrong. She work for Jackson after Fender then Fender stole her back. I know she did the J-100's. I'm not sure if she did the humbuckers.

When did she work for Jackson? I have J-100s in my Charvel Model 1C that sound so good.
