  • NGD shortly... Custom Shop Warrior

I was browsing Guitar Center and openly admit to impulse-purchasing this Custom Shop warrior.

I'm stoked, it's 22 frets with dots and a stoptail bridge. Growing up on Gibson, this will hopefully make for a lasting Jackson relationship

Anyone seen this one before, looks pretty unique?

I can toss some more pics and description when it arrives, but in the meantime if anyone is familiar with this one, by all means let me know

That's really nice. Congrats! Is it short scale 24.75" like a Gibson and the older Jackson Warriors or 25.5" like the newer ones?
That's in the 1999 catalog second to last page, also on the cover of the 2000 catalog.

        Congrats PeteL! Awesome looking guitar.

        Sharp eyed toejam as always!

Love the pic of Dave on page 7 of 14 with his scowl in sharp contrast to his fuzzy fleece sweater, dad jeans, and retirement home sneakers.

That pic of Dave always cracked me up.

I've got that catalog around here somewhere, and that's the only Warrior I can remember with the SLS/AT1 headstock.

I've looked through those catalogues endless times and never noticed that Warrior had the AT1 headstock. Very nice...congratulations on a unique axe.
            96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

It is a bit strange considering the Warrior's body points are inspired by the Jackson headstock, and that the 3x3 headstock would not really match the Warrior.

Yeah, kinda' ironic now that you mention it.

You guys are blowing my mind!! I had that 2000 catalog in highschool, my original guitar porn when I just started playing guitar (obsessed with old school metal at the time!)

This Jackson was an impulse buy due to possible quarter life crisis and desire to get back into the metal, which I def CAN'T do on ANY other guitar... hehe.

But yes, I remember this catalog well (that blood splatter Kelly star!!) and it's completely coincidental I've come full circle to soon taking delivery of this warrior. The original Warrrior I fell for was the blood splatter one advertised around this time in a guitar world ad... but I digress!

I hope it is a Gibson scale, which was my guess when I saw the other relatively conservative specs (for Jackson). Fingers crossed! Since, like I said, I am more of a Gibson guy. Will keep you posted, shows up on Friday.

Thanks so much for the quick detective work, fellas! It's been forever since I had a Jackson and like I said, this one seems like it could be the perfect blend for me

Dangit, the even more eagle-eyed among us has PM'd me with the disappointing news that this beauty is in fact bolt-on

Ugh! Well, if it has a fat neck and/or 24.75 scale, I'll be happy. Otherwise, back to the GC nether realm she may go...

I just have a hard time getting over the bolt-on Warrior/KV/Rhoads thing but I will TRY not to pre-judge

Bolt-on means never having to say "I'm fucked!" when the headstock snaps or the neck warps.

However, a Warrior with only 22 frets and no Floyd is fucking retarded. Yeah, yeah, insert whatever bullshit about a harmonic node you can't get with 24 frets: Blow me. If you're worried about one harmonic node you aren't supposed to be playing a fucking Warrior. If you can't work a Floyd properly, you aren't supposed to be playing a fucking Warrior. If you're worried about fictional loss of tonal nuances because of a Floyd route, you're not supposed to be playing a fucking Warrior.

Well, PeteL apparently returned it since it's back on GC's site. So no congrats to him, anyway.
