  • Need help with recognizing A Jackson Model from 1993

Hey, This gutiar fell to my hand (and its the one i liked the most so far), But, even tho i contacted jackson themselves, they have no information about it. It looks like A DK2, but i couldnt find anything with that neck. (The only thing i know, the previous owner change the pickups, it was jackson pickups, but no longer)
I'll post some pictures, Maybe some1 knows what model and whats the specs(i mean, the body wood, im not sure if its elder or poplar)
Could it also be a custom model guitar?

Serial number 002024 corresponds to the guitar having been built in the Ontario, California factory in 1994. See reference chart, "Jackson USA Bolt-On" column: http://www.jacksonguitars.com/support/serial-numbers/

        Great looking birdseye maple neck/fretboard!

The middle pickup's screw polepieces hints that it is either the Seymour Duncan Little '59 or the JB Jr. I was going to say the same thing for the neck pickup, but in one of your photos it looks like one row of polepieces might be slugs instead of screws, and I'm not aware of a Duncan single-sized humbucker with one row of screws and one row of slugs... hmm...

The bridge pickup might be a DiMarzio due to their affinity for two rows of hex polepieces, but that's just a guess.

To know for certain, dismouting all the pickups and looking underneath their baseplates might reveal labels or other identification.

The tremolo bridge is a Jackson JT590, made in Germany by Schaller, who also makes the Floyd Rose Original.

Have you tried removing the neck from the body? Any bare spots in the neck cavity might help identify the body wood. Perhaps there is bare wood showing in the tremolo cavity too.

Hopefully other people can shed more light.

One piece of info I can give is if you paid anything like a typical dk2 price you stole it.

Well, the pickups were replaced by the previous owners, so i have no idea what was the original ones, and the owner dont know either.
I bought it for around 1000$, And its the one i like the most so far due to its thin and comfortable neck.
So its a basswood eh? I thought it might be alder or even poplar^^ Btw thanks guys for all the info! Its cool to know i actually bought a custom made guitar (I hope!) , even tho i gotta take it to some1 to make the neck a bit brighter and clean it (Well, it was fine if it was my dirt:p)
Here's some more but i dont think i forgot to pic something useful xD

It's easy to do yourself. See the below video, except I tend to rub the 0000 grade steel wool UP AND DOWN the neck/fretboard instead of ACROSS it.

Thanks, will do that next time i have to change strings. even tho my neck looks dirtier, i hope itll do the same
I was wondering whats her value, since here in my country the instruments market is broken, and stores sells double price (or more) than the price in US

Was the maple fret board/black shark fins a production model back then? With a production model serial number it would appear so, but I'd be very interested in seeing the cavity and/or neck heel markings.

As stated, the serial indicates a '94 Dinky Custom. Ironically, the 'Dinky Custom' was actually a standard production model during the early -mid '90s despite the 'Custom' name.

Personally, I'd have expected a Custom Shop 4 digit serial on this guitar due to the maple board as the Dinky Customs I've seen generally had a bound ebony board with pearl shark fins.

                  As for value:
$1000 in the US would be a good deal for that guitar considering the specs, so you got a great deal.

                  96xxxxx, 97xxxxx and 98xxxxx serials oftentimes don't indicate '96, '97 and '98.

The neck pup looks like a Little Screamin' Demon... one set of hex poles on top and one set of regular screws on the bottom.

And let me see if i got it right, "Dinky Custom" Used to be a regular production series?
The word custom makes me think its a special order/non-production model^^

Dinky Custom is sort of like the Les Paul Custom. Just a name, not custom made.

Jackson users usually refer to the Custom Shop. Like calling it a Custom Shop Dinky or something.
