  • Jackson SHS 1998 black....

I found a lovely jackson SHS black and its said to be a tribute to Mike Shannon... i wonder if anybody has information on the 1998 SHS guitar build back then...

So was these build only a tribute to Mike Shannon and having his signature signed at back of headstock but constructed by other employees of jackson guitars?

Or is a true build not only signed but also builded by Shannon ?

Do these build comes with a certificate of authenticity ? Or only comes with a regular jackson tag ?

Tons of info in this recent post, with links to old posts where I remembered even more stuff about 1998 SHS1 Shannon Soloists:

If the one you're investigating is black, it's the second most common color and there were 50 or 52 of them built. I can never remember the precise number but it's apparently one of these two.

I don't know the answers to your other questions though. I don't believe they came with certificates, since I've never seen photos of them before, but I could be wrong. I didn't acquire mine until 2004, I am at least its second or third owner, and it only came with an OHSC (perhaps missing hangtags and certificate if it originally came with it/them).

Thanks there but may i know what OHSC ? So these SHS1 were build by shannon ? Or just by other jackson builders who build them and having Shannon to sign since i heard is a shannon tribute thing ?

OHSC = Original Hard Shell Case

The OHSC for this guitar was the Charvel/Jackson-branded SKB IMC-11. Photos of mine are below. LOL I had forgotten what it looked like without all my stickers back in 2004!

Like I mentioned in my first reply, I don't have answers for these particular questions and don't want to guess for fear of being wrong.

Many years ago, I came across "SHS1" as the model number for the 1998 Shannon Soloists. I've never read anything to the contrary, but if I'm perpetuating a misnomer, no one has ever rebutted. Even "SHS1" is how I've named my Photobucket folder for this guitar.

These guitars are nearly two decades old and I'm surprised there are still mysteries surrounding this small run of guitars, no central source of information, etc. Maybe I should start one, a mini tribute/wiki page just for the 1998 Shannon Soloists. I know a fair bit about them only because I had a mild obsession with them around the time I acquired mine in 2004, but I'm sure I'm missing much more information.

Wow !! Thanks alot there Number of the priest. Well is that SHS1 of yours still play just like as good ? How reactive is the neck when you tune the truss rod ? And how stable is the neck after tuning ?

Ah, okay. I've never heard of a model number, just knew them as the Shannon Soloists.
