  • Fair price on a us soloist with a kahler bridge?

I was thinking about $1400 if the condition is otherwise ok.

Depends on specs - is it a custom (ebony, sharkfins, binding) or a student (rosewood w dots)? Is it h/s/s, h/h or single hum? What colour?
Popular is not the same as good
Rare is not the same as valuable
Worth is what someone will pay, not what you want to get

Honestly, $1400.00 with a Kahler might be a bit high. I bought a really nice SL2H off eBay for $1200.00 a few years ago, a 2003 model with Floyd. I also sold an SL1 on here that I had bought brand new for about $1100.00.

Sounds more like maybe $1000.00 to me, unless some details have been left out.

Pics Would help but a Kahler deduct $200.

$1400 isn't unrealistic if it's a clean guitar. Very clean.

The dates are going to be sketchy (NT) with a refretting, but we are definitely pre fender (thinking mid 90s).I haven't seen it in person (friend of a friend owns it). Has shark fins and ebony, but the pups were swapped for EMGs. I am told it was custom, but the only photo I saw only showed US made on the headstock.

I dont want to upset anyone if it's their guitar so I hesitate to post pics. Asking price was $2250 US, but my friend thinks I could shave some money off (probably just not enough to be fair and not piss anyone off). Thanks again for the input.

The serial will determine if it's a Custom or not. Usually.

                Along with the year.

                  When I saw Kahler-Soloist, I figured '80's.

I didn't really think about that until I read your comment about 80s but now I am wondering about the dates too. Seems weird that they would have a kahler system on a guitar in the 90s.

I would think it is a JXXXX serial of some sort. I don't recall any Kahler production guitars.

No USA models I can think of either. But there were imports that had them -- and remember, a lot of those Charvel guitars were made in "Texas". .

If you saw the headstock if it has Binding its a Custom. I think they quit using Kahlers in 86/87 unless special ordered. Only the 1st year Charvels had Kahlers 1986.

One can only guess. It's entirely possible it's a '90s Custom Shop which could have any variation of specs. Binding/no binding etc.
Unless I'm mistaken, the Kahler was still a Custom offering through the '90s?

Early '90s Custom Shop guitars didn't have the CS headstock logo, and the CS logo could be left off of mid-late '90s CS's if preferred by the customer.

                            Pic and/or a serial.

I'd put my $20 on an '80's Custom Soloist, though.

Post a pic with the serial number thats the only way to know for sure.
I had a 90 RR with a Kahler with an RR prefix in 90 they were using the J prefix by then IIRC.
Kahler makes it sound to me to be 86 thru 88.
