That thing is wicked cool. There is something about that pickup combo on the white pickguard that makes it very interesting to look at. Great color and layout.

I like that you ordered a Strathead and made it more Jackson, not Charvel-ish. And again, for the 2nd look, good job, well spec'd!

That's a really interesting comment, Xeno. I'm curious what about the guitar you think seems more Jackson?

In the first pic I was thinking "This guitar is nice but it looks like that really dry rosewood you sometimes see on the eastern asian imports." and didn't totally love it. Then in the later pictures when I realized from the grain pattern that I was seeing was actually the baked maple, i fell for it hard hehe. The back of the neck looks AMAZING. I would have to get rid of the headstock shape license sticker off the back immediately though.

Already done. It's one of the first things I do, too. Actually, I started to right before taking these pictures. In the pic of the back, you can see one corner curled up a bit already. It was a really gummy sticker, so I stopped to just get the pics done first. Then I took it off, rubbed off the glue residue, and gave it a small shot of oil to shine up that spot to match the rest of the neck.

                  F' the lawyers! LOL

I dunno, to me it just has a Jackson strathead vibe. Abalone dots, matching headstock? Aren't pickguards a bit more common on Jackson strats too? If you showed me a picture of the guitar without a logo and asked me which logo it should get I'd say Jackson. No real idea why.

You ordered with the 8 screw pickguard... really cool. Does the body have a swimming pool route? Just curious.

It's cool, I was just curious why you thought so. I think this guitar is an interesting one in how each of our own personal preferences, etc tends to shape our perceptions of what things should be, and how much we like them. I obviously spec'd it as a Jackson and wanted it so. But it could just as easily have been a Charvel. When it comes to strat bodies with pickguards, IMHO there's little difference between the two brands. At least, not as strongly as the neck-through vs. bolt-on or pointyhead vs. strathead things tend to differentiate the two brands. But others will feel just as strongly identifying a guitar like this with either J or C. There's no right or wrong answer, just our own individual preferences.

And I didn't specify the 8 screw pickguard, they just built it that way. Apparently, someone in the custom shop thinks it's cooler that way, too. Haven't needed to pull it off yet, so not sure of the PU route underneath. Between the baked maple's reputation for additional stability and the truss rod adjust at the heel, not sure if I'll ever need to pull the neck off. But, if I ever do, I'll be curious enough then to have a look, too.

I think it's cooler with the 8 screw, but that's just me being sentimental I guess. lol

I have no problem with the Charvel logo. It's just fine on a guitar too, just the one you spec'd seemed to have a more historic Jackson vibe to it. And yeah, it could have looked fine with a Charvel logo.

It's really cool that you got the baked maple like you did. Definitely great job spec'ing that out!
