JCS+ would be fitting I think. You always coerce them to do things most people would get denied. I can't wait to see your next build, whatever that's going to be.

edit: Pick a finish they can nail.

13 months was the longest I ever waited on a CS Jackson but there wasn`t any BS Masterbuilt upcharge at the time. That MB upcharge is what has held me back from putting another order in. Now it is said they aren`t taking anymore Masterbuilt orders, that`s crazy. Mine would have at least a few different things that makes it a MB Soloist. That`s crazy they charge so much more for a few changes. Before it was just a custom order Jackson.

yeah, JCS Plus is a good description of it Mike! I just work on the principle that it never hurts to ask, and I have a loooooong memory of stuff that's gone wrong which I'm shameless enough to use as a lever when it suits me LOL

And very good point on the finish! One is going to be sparkle gold, and the other is natural oil, so there shouldn't be too much room for error there (he says, crossing his fingers!)

I guess that's the downside of the Custom Select program. Now it seems that (sigs aside), pretty much everything we see is built to a specific order, with some sort of variation away from the standard specs. Which I think is awesome and kind of like what it was prior to 1990 where guitars were built to order rather than a defined production instrument.

The downside is that if you want to get too far away from the base model, you're dealing with the MB charge. So it's swings and roundabouts - now you can order a custom spec'd, one-off guitar for around 2500. But if you want a Kahler, it's gonna cost you 4k..

Ya, the Kahler Pro is a just the start of what I would want. 22 stainless steel frets, 24.75 scale, just a volume knob, etc. I am probably just better off ordering a Kiesel and try to talk Jeff into a Kahler at least. He`ll do almost anything but so far has balked on the Kahler due to the neck angle. They can do it, it`s just getting him to. I can deal with the 24 frets and 25 inch scale length. I own 2 Carvins already with that. 1 with a Kahler Pro, the other a Kahler Flyer(cheaper Pro). Both from the 80`s.

Yeah, Kahler and short scale take it out of custom select right away, as does 22 frets unless you want an RR. They'll do SS frets and a single volume, but those are pretty minor compared to the scale length and bridge..

It took 18 months to get mine.

By the time you forget the fact that you've order a guitar, then you'll get it. I've counted the days up until 12 months-ish, and I lost count. I got an email one day from the dealer saying my order is complete and ready for pickup.

RR2772 took from the summer of 1996 to the end of November and guitar arrived in December in Denmark. CS build as that was the policy of Jackson for making a original Rhoads like Randy's second and advertised in the '94 catalogs. This was confirmed by Ryan and Greg who recently got in touch on Facebook confirming their credits of the making of my favorite guitar.

It the 22-fret restriction still set in stone on a custom select King V as far as anyone knows? I'm interested in a old school King V build. No can do 24 frets.

My KV2 was a masterbuilt and took just over two years. the real irony is this was before the custom select options were a thing. I didn't want anything too customy, just a couple of changes here and there and I could have easily swung it under Custom Select probably for less cash too.

Ah well, I've been using it solid since I got it and it's an awesome guitar. I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I am eyeing up another custom select order though.

Will they do a flat 12" radius board under custom select?

Yes, but that would be considered a Master Built option, adding time and a lot of money. I have sold 3 custom shop selects the past month, turn around time right now is running about 6 to 8 months.

Yes, but that's a master built option. I just ordered a 22 fret hard tail Kelly for a customer, its very pricey. *Correction* My rep just got back to me and said they are only making 24 fret KV2's right now. Makes no since seeing how I ordered a 22 fret Kelly, but it is what it is. Sorry for the misinformation!

Yeah you are probably right. I'm probably on Fantasy Island thinking this build would be custom select at this point. Da plane! Da plane!
